Never seen a launch before so... anyone have any recommendations on where to view the space launch tomorrow? Safely? Would love to see it, but not interested in standing on a beach with 1,000's of people all next to each other.

 

The reality is there will be hundreds of thousands of people coming into Brevard County for the launch. The closer you get to Titusville and the Indian river the more packed it will get. There are plenty of parks to pull into off US1 but if I were coming into town from outside the area I would try to hit an area north of Titusville called Mims. More rural, still close to the river.

Launch will come from just south of that northeast heart.

Unfortunately no, some family issues came up that had me up in GA. Really bummed I missed this launch. Had it all mapped out too, check out REI, get some Del Taco and watch the launch.

speaking of guns, got my PSA lower yesterday, and ended up ordering 5, 10 round pmags before I went to bed

 

Continuing with guns...

Turns out the gunsmith did use a short throated reamer on my chamber so the factory ammo seating into the lands was normal. The short throated reamer was meant for shooting lighter bullets, which is in opposition to my intentions for the rifle. However, I've found that I can still seat the heaviest bullets I intend to shoot at .020 off the lands without, or at least only barely, compressing the loads.

That said, the gunsmith told me if I wasn't happy with it, to send it back and he would run the long throated reamer down it (giving me an additional .100" of free bore) free of charge and send it back on his own dime, which was very cool of him.

Got a 100 rounds loaded up of various bullets to hit the range with. I'm trying out a modified Slattery method of load development so I ended up getting a chrono. I wouldn't bother if I was just shooting at 100 yrds, but to develop long range loads, I came to the conclusion it was necessary.

 

Buddy ordered 1000 Wolf 55g .223 off bulkammo dot com yesterday for 249 plus tax, I went to pull the trigger today and it jumped $150 over night. Where does everyone get ammo?

I roll my own. Not sure it's any cheaper since that's not really my goal, but I can tune it to my rifle for best accuracy.

 

It's an AR-10 he plans to use for hunting.
