I've seen it. The idea of canting the rifle to use it puts me off though. Looking over the top of the scope feels more natural to me. That and it would probably be in the way of my brass catcher at the range. I already had to modify once it for the windage dial on the scope.

Honestly, I may end up putting the DP back on the AR after experimenting with it on the 96. The Viper will go on my Ruger MkII since it has a different footprint than the DP. Then I'll go from there and probably get a Trijicon for my PX4.

I had kind of poo-poo'd the idea of a canted red dot and chalked it up as a Call of Duty/Escape From Tarkov gimmick. After seeing it adopted by a handful of shooters whose opinions I respect, I decided to order a 45* mount and try it myself. Rolling the stock in my shoulder to switch to the red dot seems a lot more intuitive than I originally thought. I went with the Trijicon 45* mount that is designed to keep the the red dot centered over the bore. I get your concern about the brass catcher, but I'm a long-gun-lefty, so...

Never really doubted the utility. Jerry Miculek uses a canted reflex sight on his AR and he's one of the best shooters in the world. I figured if he uses it then it's ligit, just not something I felt would work for me.

More new on that front...I got my Burris FastFire PX4 mount today. It does not, in fact, fit the DeltaPoint footprint. Happily though, The Viper fits on it perfectly. I still have to install it to see how I like it, but if it doesn't appear to be too awkward to carry, I'll be ditching the laser. Don't need that much crap on a handgun.

I hadn't thought of mounting it forward like that. It does make me think. But still, I'm not running a short range scope. It's a 6-24x for extreme range shots, so there's actually a real need to have a CQC sight, but there's probably not so much a real need to be able to transition from one to the other that fast. I figure the reflex sight is good out to 100 yrds from a descent rest. Anything beyond that would give me time to reconfigure the rifle to set up on the target (i.e. deploy the bipod, and lower the cheek rest).

My rear leaf springs are beginning to hit negative arch. I am looking to buy a trailer and do some light hauling for work. Any recommendations on what I should get?

I currently have 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers and a 3" Spacer up front. I have OME 885 coils I bought for my old truck that I need to install. I just need to know what leaf springs to get. Also, OME Nitrocharger shocks good for towing? I'm not gonna be wheeling this truck, I want something that rides good and can haul moderate loads. I commute about 90 miles a day for my main job.

I don't know for towing, or even 2nd Gen springs, and this may not even be due to the shocks so YMMV, but after I broke the lower mount off one of the Nitrochargers I had from hitting the spring on full articulation, I had @allenfab weld in new behind the axle mounts and went with Bilstein 5125s. They rode so much better than the Nitrochargers. Not sure if that was the new shock location or the shocks themselves. Helpful, huh?

Weird thing though. When I got the suspension for the T4R, I tried the 5100/Eibach combo on the OGT and it rode like shit compared to the OME coilovers (both with 881 and 883s), but they ride fantastic on the T4R even though the coilovers should be the same for either platform. Go figure.

Obviously there is the aftermarket for springs. I use AllDogs Offroad for lift and weight capacity. They are adjustable very much like the Icon Rxt are. Personally not a fan of Icon in general.
As for springs in general. If you search the 1st gen forum. A lot of guys are using US General Spring or another company. That can make a more OEM style spring for a competitive costs.

Yeah even with my dealer account at Brownells it looks like OP still has the best deal. I usually wait for Brownells to have discount codes anyways because it stacks with the dealer discount.

It took some reengineering because the Burris mount, as with all Burris products in my experience is a POS that didn't sit right on the pistol. I still might have to futz with it some more after I test it out, but here it sits.

So this question is to anyone that carries with a reflex sight...How do you turn it on if you have to draw down? My DeltaPoint will shut itself off after so long and come back on if the gun is moved significantly. The Viper will shut itself off after 14hrs o_O. Are you just supposed to carry it with the sight on constantly? I may not be the most dexterous person on the planet, but I haven't figured out an efficient way to turn the sight on in the process of drawing and putting the pistol on target that doesn't significantly slow the process down to a dangerous level.

Yes carry it with it on at all times. Set up battery change intervals and keep track of it so you're never left with a dead battery

On my rmr I change the battery every 6 months. Honestly that's probably half the battery's life but I'd rather be safe than sorry

Copy that. I kinda wish I could find a mount with the Trijicon/DP footprint. Evidently a Glock dovetail mount will work, possibly with minor machining since like the 96, there's a pin that rises on the top of the slide when the trigger is pulled. The Burris mount has a hole for it and says it fits all Glocks and the PX4.

On the Trijicon, do you have to remove the sight to change the battery, or is it like the DP where you can change the battery from the top without removing the sight?

You have to remove the sight to replace the battery. I have my slide milled for the rmr so it can only go back in one way. No side to side movement or back and forth. It goes right back to zero when I reinstall it

Yeah, the Burris mount has a pin in each corner, so it should go back to zero if removed. It just seems inconvenient to have to remove the sight to replace the battery when Leupold figured out how to do it without removing the sight. Now if they only made a lower profile DeltaPoint.

Edit: So basically, I'd be replacing the battery every time I rotate my mags. That works.

That's exactly it though. To maintain their durability and slim profile they can't have a cap compartment on the top to change the battery out or. Same thing for the lens itself

When I added an RMR to my Glock 19, I opted for dual illumination (tritium and fiber optics) because I didn't want to deal with batteries or switches.

    [IMG]20180621_121103 by Lee, on Flickr

I've been considering adding an optic to my Glock 43, and if I do it will likely be another dual illumination RMR.
