Do a 1uz instead. There's quite a few facebook groups about swapping them into old 4runners and pickups.

Also with an a340e you can get either side drop transfer cases. You can even do a Jeep dana 300 transfer case with a super low gear (my plan eventually)

I just messaged them to take a look. It's close by, 156 thousand miles, automatic 4x4, Asking 2900.00. If it's as nice as it looks in the pics I would kind of feel bad cutting it up.

That looks like a 99 Highlander trim, I would snatch that up at that price in an instant, that hood alone is worth $800, the coils are the best coils to be had on the 3rd gen you could resell them for $200, the flares (the wider limited flares without the side body cladding) I've sold for $300.

That's big money right there, they don't know what they got!

And if it needs a frame I have one without rust for $600.

On closer inspection the grille is wrong for a 99 Highlander, this looks like a 01-02 sport package, still big money. You can strip it and make enough to fund your swap, they strip down super easy.

The ad says it's a 2002, definitely an SR5 from the other pics. Hopefully he get's back with me.

I had a guy offer me $500 just for all thw scoop parts, then even an aftermarket hood costs $250.

    :notsure:

Yeah I've seen them lower, I mean I got my whole hood from a u-pull for $50 but yeah they're rare.

Well darn. I'm waiting on a fat wad of cash so I can go down this same road (only mine's a little longer since it doesn't stop with an engine swap). I do have an A340E sitting in the shed if you feel confident enough to tear it down and put an A340F tail shaft in it. I also have what is hopefully a rebuildable 3.4L engine that came out of Tim's T4R if you're interested. It has no compression on the #3 cylinder. I've moved on to other plans...

If I was more solid on the timeframe for my funding I would let you use the OGT for a donor vehicle, but at this point I'm not sure how I'm going to hack up the wiring harness. Won't need the engine harness, computer, or the gauge cluster, but I'd like to keep the wiring for the steering column intact, not to mention the climate controls and such.

Not sure he has enough wheel base for a divorced T-case and you can get 4.70:1 gears for the old passenger side drop Toyota gear driven T-case. Now, if AA has an adapter to adapt an A340E to the Toyota T-case then that's a different story.

So are you interested in the possibly rebuildable 3.4L and the A340E I have? I'll cut you a great deal on it. If it turns out to be a boat anchor, you don't have to pay me anything. If it's rebuildable then $300 for the engine and transmission. At worst you'd have a core for a salvage yard engine. I also have an engine hoist you can borrow.

I don't think so, at least not right away. I think having a complete running donor vehicle makes the swap much easier. I'm going to keep looking, heck I almost got one after one day of searching!

Thans for the offer on the hoist, may take you up on that!

A dana 300 transfer case (from an aw4) would be attached to the back of the a a340. With a teralow kit your low 4 becomes a 4:1 low gear. From what I've seen to attach an a 340e to a transfer case you only need the rear output shaft and the stock tail housing. No adapters needed. This seems to be the same for the old toyota gear tcase, new toyota chain tcase, or the Jeep tcase. Advance adapters does make an adapter for an atlas for the a340

I've seen the dana t-case on the Toyota transmission, works good and very strong.

I don't think I would do the Toyota V8 swap though. If I went the V8 route I would go LS, but that leads me down a path of 1tons axles that I dont want to take $$$$

This one is in Jacksonville $1999.00 229K 4x4 auto. I bet I could talk them down too, the custom duct tape on the bumper can't add value... I'm lazy and don't really want to drive that far.
    The search will continue.
