Cool, thanks! I'll get with you when I get all the parts. I'm going to have to have the barrel nut and the gas block on the barrel before permanently installing the muzzle brake since they won't go around the brake. I have the barrel nut, just need the gas block.

I did well. Just a couple small downed branches and a bunch of small tree debris.

My place was directly in the path but was unscathed. My mom’s place in South Daytona, not so much. Her house flooded and her car is toast. My younger brother was there too, so his car got trashed as well. Flooding cleared up enough today so we could start dragging furniture to the curb, then started pulling the carpet and laminate floor and cutting out the wet drywall. I’m off until Wednesday, so I’m hoping we can get it all done by then.8AE7F359-15B5-455B-8498-D129B5B27B17.jpg 33F9FCA2-E5FE-47B2-BF27-390A8F5EE841.jpg

Was supposed to be my Christmas present, but I guess it's my Halloween treat now. Check out the size of that bore! It's pictured with the Silencerco three port muzzle brake threaded on which will allow their Hybrid 46M suppressor to thread over it. Not sure when I'll be able to pony up the cash for that addition, but all I'm lacking now it the butt stock, gas block, and the sight.

I'll admit, I'm not completely happy with the Cerakote color (Sig Dark Gray). I would rather have had it done with Magpul Stealth Gray. I might eventually have to do the handguard and maybe the upper and lower in three color multicam with Sig Dark Gray, Magpul Stealth Gray and either a different, slightly lighter shade of gray or black. Either that or have the handguard, upper, lower, and muzzle brake done in Magpul Stealth Gray with a black butt stock and grip.

Edit: I went ahead and preinstalled the barrel in the upper and installed the BCG and with the bolt locked in and the muzzle brake on, I have 16.5" from the bolt face to the tip of the muzzle brake, a half inch to spare for the super-anal ATF agent that might want to be a prick.

Why did you rule out a two piece adjustable gas block? JP has some affordable ones.
pro's: Removable even with muzzle brake welded, adjustable to your gas system needs
    con's: price ???

JP Enterprises adjustable gas blocks are garbage and their customer service is worse. Had a toolless version and the adjuster cracked off. They just said "sorry, we don't make that model anymore". Second one siezed up in the closed position after 10 rounds.

I actually went with the JP clamp on block. :fingerscrossed:

Umm...oops. :anonymous: Hopefully my mileage may very. It had pretty decent reviews on Midway. This isn't a rifle that's going to get thousands of rounds a year down the tube. Neither my shoulder or my wallet would be likely to handle that kind of volume. Probably just enough to set up a load for it and then enough to stay proficient. I anticipate it's going to be a thumper and not terribly fun to shoot beyond the first mag, lol. Until, or unless, I get the suppressor, it won't be any fun for the folks next to me either. o_O

    Bummer, I'd be pissed too.
I have two, first one was $115 less tax and shipping. It has been working great. Second one was under $100 and is also working well although I like the more expensive one better. Both use allen wrenches for the adjustment.
    I must have gotten lucky.

The one I got was ~$126, nearly twice as much as the one piece AP block I was planning for, but since that one wasn't in stock it gave me time to reconsider going with a clamp on model so I could take it off if needed. I'm not thrilled about where the adjustment screw is, but I'm not afraid to make a little modification to my handguard to access it.

I had to keep taking the hand guard off to adjust but only on the first time shooting. I was going to drill an access hole but decided against.

Yup, looks like the one I got. I might just take the handguard off, but if I ever go through the cost and effort to get a can, I might need to adjust it. There's also the fact that I'm planning on running light to moderate handloads in it, so I might need to change the setting from time to time if I want to fire factory ammo out of it without getting a face full of gas. I'm not sure how big a difference it will make, but I'd like to keep the muzzle velocity down to around 1500 FPS with the handloads, but with a 14.5" barrel I might get that out of full power factory loads. It'll be fun to play with to get the tailored load I'm looking for anyway. Even if I'm getting the desired velocity out of factory loads, I might still try some handloads. I've noticed that factory powder tends to burn a lot dirtier than handloading powders. That's a plus in my book. Especially if I can use a faster powder to get the same velocity without a big loud fireball coming out the brake.
