Backup? I haven't been paying full attention, just switching back and forth between tabs.

 

I read that Dakota thread last night. Pretty inspiring. He's had some awesome jobs.

 

yeah, you check out the buggy his school built? we have a really good team for that, that entrers in the same ASME competition every year........ we beat his school all the time

 

Yeah I saw that. Pretty sweet to be able to learn with somebody else's vehicle/tools. Are you on your school's team?

 

i try to help out as much as i can, but i don't have enough time to actually be on the team. i get a lot of respect in the suspension department though, and i have to credit most of what i know to the forum.
it's funny because all of the mechanical engineers know how to choose what material and size, and do all of the strength tests, but their design is strictly based on that, so when you run into bump steer, coild binding, and stuff like that related to suspension geometry and articulation, they're completely lost.

 

That's awesome that you get to help out and that you get so much out of the forum. I know I learn a ton of stuff from here too. Do you have any pics of their buggy?

i lost a lot of pictures this summer when my computer crashed, but last years is on display in our engineering building, so i'll try to remember to take some pictures monday. any parts you want closeups of? i'll also get some photos of our formula 1 car if that's still out in the open.

 

hopefully they drink their beer fast

 

oh and just for a little tease....the buggy was only abotu 400 lbs, 60 inches wide, and had a wheelbase of 55 inches.....yet it was pushing 12 inches of travel front and rear

 

Mostly the suspension.

If you haven't already you should pick up a maxtor drive or the equivalent. I have one set up to back up nightly.

i think they used one in our formula 1 car. either that, or one from a ninja. the buggy engine is a lot smaller though,

 

That was the 1st one I saw and I liked the current bid.

 

haha, i like that bid too. i'll look around for a larger one. my dad uses the terrabyte ones, but that's because all of his pictures take up a ton of room
