Sparklegrease, just because they don't make a kit for your truck doesn't mean we can't figure out something for the 5 lug. Can you take a few pictures of the upper and lower shock mounts on the truck?

Nah just kidding, although that mid travel kit isn't too expensive relative to the ones for the 2nd gens.

 

Yeah it actually looks pretty simple and it should work just the mounting would be a little different.

 

huh, that's the first time that i've seen a bump stop that limmits downtravel hits the UCA)....that means if you lift it, you will have to cut off the upper bump stop, or you would have no downtravel. not a big deal, just interesting

 

That is weird. On ours we have the shock to limit droop. I wonder why the 5 lugs are set up differently.

I think that is the reason Fabtech utilizes a spindle to achieve lift on those models.

 

just looked at the picture a little harder, and i'm not sure if this is the reason behind the other bump stop, but it looks like with where the UCA is bolted to the frame, if you get too much drop, the arm will actually contact the frame.

 

I don't know why they would set it up that way. I guess if the uca was farther out it would interfere with other parts or push the wheel too far out. This could limit a lot of options. I think the only way to get lift with having any down travel would be the spindles.

 

independant suspension works best when the pivot of the upper control arm is directly above the lover. this helps the wheel stay relatively level throughout it's articulation. so my best gues is that the lca pivot is a little further towards the center of the frame and this was how they got them close to in-line

I get that I'm just wondering why they didn't push both out. I'm guessing it would have made it too wide but then they could have mad the frame narrower towards the front but that could have clearance problems with the engine but who knows.

Tell me about it. I never noticed how different it was until I looked at the pics today. Totally back asswards from the 86 I've always worked on.

 

well, on the bright side, the rear is easy to lift. just need a longer set of shocks (brand of your choosing) and an aal. looks like spindles are the way to go for your front though

 

UPS says lift is out for delivery out of Riviera this morning at 5:25am...what's taking them so long?!

 

Sweet. Now to get some money to spend on that.

EDIT:: Found the AAL pack for $41 through Fat Bob's and Amazon has the Fabtech 3" spindles for $333. Performancelifts.com had them both, but they wanted $450 for them w/o shipping. The total price is much less than I was expecting though so that means I'll have them sooner. Now to figure out which shocks I want and I'm off! Thanks for the help guys.
