If you are using it to make the bed racks that you plan to sell then efficiency is king.

As a matter of fact, I've made one before out of some wood for a project which leads me to wonder why can't he do the same with a bender?

    http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=376183

I have had this saved in my favorites for some time because I wouldn't mind making one some day when the need arises.

We'll have to get some photo evidence so you can put her on the spot.

Doesn't Demello also make a nice tube one? atleast for the 1st gens I believe.

I put the pics of the exhaust and a little story in the build thread.

I was actually thinking about the efficiency thing earlier this morning sitting in traffic. now i'm leaning towards the 12 ton jack bender. both for effiency, and becasue it's able to bend slightly biger steel (diameter and wall thickness).

That's a cool bender in the link, very simple. northern tool and tractor supply co both sell hydraulic pistons for good prices. as for the pump, you wouldn't even need anything fancy, you could use the pump mechanism from an old hydraulic jack, and just have a milk jug sitting there for the reservior.

Demelo does make a 2nd gen rear tube bumper, but i'm not crazy about it at all. very bulky for an off road bumper, and doesn't cover nearly enough for my liking.

yeah, i like that one much more.

nothing too special. just went out for sushi with the family last night. little brother got me a camo hat from wake forrest (where he's starting college next year), and my mom and dad got me a sweet new laptop, becasue my current one was falling appart in every way.

the new one is awesome. cuper fast, full HD ability, so now i can edit my go-pro videos, and it looks pretty cool too.

wood grain and stainless steel finish :) i hadn't seen a finish like this before
    [IMG]

so i couldn't be happier. the money i'm saveing by not having to buy a new laptop can now go to tools :D

It's nice to just be with the family. That laptop is classy. I thought it was funny when you told me how you had to upload videos to youtube to watch them on the old one.

haha, yeah, that really sucked. glad i can preview them now before i toss them up online.

it is nice to spend time with them. the cool part is we're about to have most of the extended family in town for my brother's highschool graduation next week. it's alway super crazy and my mom freaks out when that happens, but it's fun to gather all of the relatives in one place.....most of the time

even better, both of my uncles coming next week are very experienced engineers, one is aerospace, and the other is mechanical. both have gotten rid of most of their tools, but have fabrication experience from when they had the tools, so i'm gonna pick their brains real well while they're around

I have an Asus similar to that, UL50 I think is the model. It's been great so far, but I hate the touch pad on it. Doesn't seem to be very smooth...but I have the accidental replacement plan so at 3 years it's getting run over with the taco either way :D

It is fun to see everybody, for a little while at least. Funny enough, my graduation is tonight.

Maybe you should wait to see what your uncles have to say about which bender would be better for you.

    Well Congrats!!! :taco:

hmm, you have a point. i think they had access to nice machine shop quality benders, but i'd assume they know something about the smaller ones. i really need to get starting building things this weekend though, so maybe i'll call them up tonight.
if i can get skype set up on the new computer i'll have to get a conference call video chat going on there.

    thanks.

I'm sure it will be nice to use a computer capable of running skype.

Touch pads are annoying especially when your fingers are a little sweaty.

i'm still getting used to the touch pad on the new one. it's completely different than the one on my hp. the touchpad itsself is bamboo like the rest of the wood on it, which is bizzare at first because you can feel the wood grain sliding your finger over it. i have a wireless mouse i use most of the time though, so it's not too big of an issue.

its fun running the old stuff over :D. i did that to my last phone, but it was one of the rugged phones, so nothing happened :(. i decided i'd keep it a little longer after seeing that lol.

Whoa that's unique. I'll probably get another Asus when I choose the replacement for this one. As a FYI this is my third laptop obtained for free via the Best Buy warranty program. It's about $300 for a 3 year plan but I've only purchased one laptop and gotten three new ones out of it. I have to buy the plan again every time, but at $300 a laptop every few years, I'm not complaining

i'll have to look into it. this last one lasted 4 years. granted it's pretty beat, but it's done well.

the touchpad is deffinately something to get used to. especially since you can barely see it, and there's no difference in feel compared to the rest of the area around it. you jsut have to use the clicker as a refference. deffinately keeps it sleek though

Oh id love and appreciate the hell out of that. Its not that I don't "trust" the vendors on here (cause obviously they are quality) but I like my shit a certain way. And the prices + shipping end up killing me :(

If you do get the bender and start work put me down for front/rear bumpers, sliders if you can and roof rack / head ache rack! I plan to move my kc's to my roof rack (future rack) cause I like the 2 light look behind the grille better then the 4.

haha....you're gona join the heavy as hell truck club real fast.

depending on how things go, i more than likely won't make bumper on a regular basis, but i'll do a few here and there. same for sliders. i hear ya on the shipping thing.

we had a real nice guy with nicely done red x-runner come to citrus with his girlfriend. by the end of the weekend he said he wanted to sell it and get a 4x4.
