end of the summer. once i build the bed rack, i'm doing a complete lighting overhaul.

it actually looks to be close to your height, larry. maybe a tad taller. it's more square though for sure. i need to get some better angles though. the one i posted is actually look up a little at it, making it look taller than it is

i'll have to check mine tomorrow. i think the midpoint of the tube is between the center of the upper plastic of the grill, or max, centered with weatherstripping between the grill and hood.

what i'd really like to do is make one that only comes up about 6 inches, but put one of rigid industries' 30 inch bars under it :)

Are the 4 door "front doors" just like the access cab doors?

took some more pictures before work earlier.

looks like the centerline of the tube is about even with the weatherstripping between the grill and hood.

the only thing i have to worry about if i lower it is the clearance with the back of the lighs and the grill. i like the angle, so i'd rather not tilt if forward more to clear them. the ones now are bviously fine, buta 9'' spot beam is going to be a pretty deep light (only a potential issue if i lower it).

and here's what i see from the driver's seat. it's actually kind of usefull, because now i know exactly where the furthest forward point of the truck is.

nice, i like that better. allows you to take out any stretch the cover gets over time more easily.

yeah, the snaps can pull out too much. i've had to try to repair some on the cover to my dad's boat. you also get a more complete seal with the velcro. have fun camping!

A little late on the kayak thing but I would highly recommend Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120. I have paddled quite a few kayaks, and this one tracks and is the fastest for what it is. It has plenty of storage for day, or even camping trips. I have one and use it to fish, it works great. It can go on the roof or in the bed of the truck, and it is manageable by one person. My buddy just recently went to a kayak demo and tried one and told me it was the best kayak out of 10 he tried.
