I you do SUA you run the risk of hitting the springs on rocks and shit and possibly damaging leafs

congrats on the new job, but that really sucks about the '85

Spring under eliminates axle wrap, which is worse for leafs.

good to hear you like the new job. what company is it?

:( sorry about the jeep. how long ago did that happen?

i'm going to have to fabricate either way. i'm not really worried abotu the clearance with sprung under. if any, they'll barely sit lower than the rear diff, and it's very race to have rocks and other obstacles hit right there. if it's that close to the tire, you'll usually put the tire ontop of it. they also make u-bolt eliminator kits that dually act as a leaf spring skid.

i'm concerned more about the shackles and hangers than anything. if kevin doesn't re-release the shackle flip kit soon, i'm going to have to make my own which would kinda suck.

oh and anything i do will decrease axlewrap...i have it bad. also thinking about making the lower shock mount a little further from the axle, which would allow the shocks to help resist axle wrap too.

Drooling over these f toys over at pirate 4x4.

Also I went to 4wp in tampa for the first time... that store was amazing. Didn't talk to the people just looked around. Awesome to see all that shit in person. Small shop though. Then I went to Shoot Strait cause my testosterone was flowing and that place kicked ass too! If I needed a gun I would buy one but don't.

good thing lol. it's what their supposed to do. they still act as a bump stop t keep the shocks from bottoming out, but they do it gradually instead of abruptly like the stock ones. they're like a half way point between stock and air bumps.

haha, that's really funny! all the guys up here call me ricky bobby....

i'll be doing all of the same wheeling that i do now, which is a combination of rocks and fast, just hopefully at a higher level.

realistically i'll probably start out with a nice sprung over, and then switch to under after i've had time to test the bed cage and work out a good shackle situation.

i looked under my axle, and there are zero scrapes in the paint on the axle housing where the springs would run under, or any scrapes on the stock lower shock mounts. it's really hard to hit there because it's so close to the tire. i'd feel comfortable hitting the rocks with sprung under. plus, the leaf that really matters is all of the way up against the axle, so even if you did hit them hard and break one or two, you'll more than likely be able to get home without any problems. i have some time to think about it though since i need to save up for shocks a boat load of steel, and some nice hardware first. just to be overkill, i'm going to use F911 nuts and bolts :drevil:
