Hit the dog next time. I dont mean to sound like an asshole but if anything runs out infront of me (with the exception of a person) and I cant easily avoid it, I will be hitting it.

 

I think if it can be avoided by braking it should be done unless it's on a busy street obviously but if it requires a severe swerve then I agree with you although slowing down can still help.

 

I'd take any animal out if it would cause me to wreck avoiding it...

 

i feel the same way, replacing a dog or a cat is alot cheaper than replacing your truck.

Ya, my dad was a fireman for 30 years and I've just heard way to many stories of people killing themselves or someone else trying to avoid a dog.

 

in addition, i believe if you hit a dog, insurance will cover it (depending on insurance of course), but if you swerve to avoid it and hit a tree, you're out of luck.

i think i remember a thread a few months ago where a member was in this exact situation (swerved and hit something).

Jesse got it. Sorry for the confusion. We had the Goodyear blimp fly right over our house. I'm guessing it was from the FL GA game yesterday.
