When I put my 09 back to stock I felt unsafe. Feeling how much sway the stock coils had with the sway bar was the final deciding factor for me to not get the ap Lt kit. I couldn't imagine driving without one.

Hey! I had mine for 3 years, I would have kept it but it wasn't the truck I originally wanted. Now I have finally fixed that.

i really dont feel much sway. Also my coils are pretty stiff so that helps out a lot.

I probably take corners and change lanes faster than you, I got used to my truck cornering nice and flat with my ome setup. I drove my old truck stock for half a day before the trade and it was ewwww. The new one is a little stiffer, I don't know if that's just because its new or the progressive springs in the OR model.

Why am I ready its sketchy? People saying its unstable and flimsy... are they just using it wrong. Cant find the thread but people saying they dont trust their hi lift... how is that so when so many people use them?

if used correctly, it is safe, but regardless, it will always give you an uneasy feeling. they are however, easy to use incorrectly, makeing them dangerous. and unfortunately most people don't know how to use them.

so many people use them because it's an extremely versitile tool, and there are very very few alternatives, and the alternatives there are, are very expensive.

Mhmm I myself have never used one. I used a winch my first time with no help that was interesting to say the least and very impressive. I'll look into some how to stuff I guess.

experience and common sense are what make it safer......but since you don't have the experience yet, just use common sense, and always take it slow (winching and hilift). there are a ton of tricks and techniques for useing both, but those are hard to teach withough actually being in a situation that requires the technique.

i want to make a base for my hi lift to make it more stable. got a design, just need the time

I saw some bases somewhere that looks real legit. I also want to order some of that waffle board like mud traction ramps but 1/4 the cost lol. See em on top of rigs all the time on expedition portal. Get you out of sticky situation when no tree to winch off of.

yeah, those things are great. the maxtrax (by ARB) are amazing. they are quite pricey though. i think i'll probably get the new ones from smittybuilt. they're only about $150 for a set, and performed almost identically to the ARB made ones.

Yeah cool tool for a just in case scenerio. I did see someone use a whinch in the desert using a boat anchor looking tool.... definetly sketchy.

they make ones speciffically for winches called ground anchors. i think only two companies make ones that sell on a regular basis. my land rover buddy wanted me to make him one when he got his winch this summer, but we never got a design we were happy with. the trick is getting something large enough and strong enough to work, but one that is slill small enough or colapsable to the point that it's not a burdon to carry along on the trails.

i wouldn't want to use one with steel cable though.

Yeah it would be skury lol. I'm trying to find out more about those inner bead locks. I guess you have to have a second valve stem to fill it... then it goes inside the tire and the tire mounts over it (of course) but how to balance??? Still use wheel weights? I have been seeing guys use bb's from air soft guns to balance. Hard to believe it works.
