The noise level inside the cab will have a lot to do with where the exhaust exits the vehicle. I can't speak from experience in the Tacomas, but I had a 4.0 Ranger that I ran the Super 44 on. It was loud as hell, but the exhaust came out in front of the rear tire and pointed towards the ground.

The sound varies off of RPMs but the supper 44 is supposed to be deep and throaty so it's pretty loud on a V6.

I am not sure about the super 44, but I just put the super 40 on my 3.4 V6 with a turndown behind the rear axle and it is not very loud at all imo. I bought a 2.5" in/out and it welded right up.

I decided to do the same thing you did. A super 40 on my 3.4 & dumped it just past the rear axle. Very happy with it! Best picture I have.

I'm running a 44 in a 4.0 dbl cab and it's not very noticeable. Since I re-geared to 4.56's when I go over 75mph my RPM's are a little high (3.4k) I can hear it in the cab some. My exhaust exits at the stock location. Considering cutting it now, but I've only managed to hit the exhaust once.
