Now I have a muffler equivalent to the Borla muffler. Actually my muffler is built exactly the same as the Borla muffler except it's not packed...

gotcha! i read that wikipedia link and it stated that due to the back pressure it requires more fuel consumption  good thing i've got extra MF's sitting around just in case I make the switch :p

there you go! conversely, if you have too little back pressure it can be a really bad thing. that's why running an engine with open headers... is bad. the cylinders on the exhaust stroke have no resistance, imagine punching nothing as hard as you could. you'd potentially throw your arm out.

    pleasure's mine!

and OP, in the end it all comes down to personal preference. use this thread as a starting point, then go off and make an informed decision on what you think is the best!

    good luck!

    peace out

For anyone stating that they noticed some semblance of a power difference by installing one muffler over the other, stop kidding yourself. No replacement muffler will net us enough of a power boost in these trucks to notice it. It might sound badass, but it's not going any faster.

And just one more thing, if you go with any sort of free flowing muffler, you WILL LOSE some low end torque. You are decreasing your backpressure and slightly moving your powerband. I have just about every N/A mod I can do to my truck and my low end is dogshit. When I get above about 3k RPM though... Goddamn does she go.

I don't see why most hate flowmaster. I put a super 44 on and love it. The reason I wanted a flowmaster is cause I love the sound

    None yet.....
I listened to a lot of different sound clips to try and figure out what I wanted. I determined that the louder it gets, the worse it sounds. All I did was replace the stock muffler with an 18" magnaflow. Gives it just a little extra sound without annoying my little boy in the back seat, or my wife in the front seat. Don't get me wrong, I like loud, but it has to be a good-sounding loud.
