Just had my new muffler installed - a Flowmaster Original 40. It kicks ass compared to the stock unit.

Initially I was scared that it was too loud, on the drive home I was a little paranoid. But when I got home the neighbours were saying how nice it sounded. I had my one neighbour drive it so I could stand outside and listen, and it's not obnoxiously loud IMO. When you punch the gas it gives off a nice tone and running through the gears, I love the sound from inside the truck. It's a little louder inside than I expected, but I love it.

I have the 40 series as well with dual pipes out the rear. I love the sound of it too! At about 1500 rpm. Very nice. I had this one guy in another tacoma ask what I had. I told him and he told me what he was running. I don't remember what he had, but when he took off his truck sounded like a damn rice burning Honda. Yuk!

    Right on, same here!

I'm only running the single pipe out, in the stock location (behind the passenger side rear mud flap). The dual pipes would have been nice, but I didn't want to spend the extra money right now - I have skid plates to buy for my new ATV :)

What size pipe was yours? 2.5" or 2.25"? Offset in and out or offset in and center out?

Mine is 2.25" inlet (stock pipeing size) and 2.25" outlet with a turndown. And to the op yes they sound nice!
