I had to get my H1N1 vaccination and regular seasonal flu shot the other day for work and I now am probably the sickest I have ever been. Anybody got some good home remedies or advice on taming this beast?

Lots of fluids, zinc might work a bit, bed rest, OTC pain relievers.

    Wait 2 weeks. Maybe 3.

I always laugh when my patients that whine and say the vaccine gives them the shot - obviously they've never had the flu for real.

That's a good question. I didn't feel sick at all before the shots, but most people I've talked to have said you probably were it just hadn't shown up yet.

07trd4x4, Some of us don't have a choice about getting vaccinations. If I didn't have to get it, I wouldnt have.

I'm drinking tons of water trying not to get dehydrated, seems like I just throw up within the hour though. I"m at war with myself lol

Doesnt the flu shot inject you with the flu? I thought it gave you a low dose of it. I got the regular flu shot a couple years ago and I got sick from it, I was fine before. Never again.

For large organizations such as the military, it'd be a shame for one person to bring down an entire unit because they refused to get a vaccine that could have prevented them, and/or their entire unit, from getting sick in the first place.

I'm pretty sure the shot injects you with dead flu cells so your body can attack them and build anti-bodies....I'm sure someone smarter can clarify

True. The shot is dead/inactivated. That "feeling sick" is your body's immune system working properly - making a fever, feeling blah. Influenza lasts weeks sometimes.

The spray, however, is live still. Theoretically you could get sick off it, though it's supposed to be not able to replicate.
