    Hey I'm new to this forum and trucks in general. I just got a 99 reg cab Tacoma 4x4 5 speed with the 3RZ-FE engine and 65k miles on the clock. It has the manual locking hubs in the front and no locking diff in the rear.

    I would like to flush the diffs, tranny, transfer case, and engine oil, so I have a baseline for all my future service records. I'm going to assume since it's a 99, all the oil is dino juice and not synthetic. I'm wondering if I should stick with natural oil, or can I switch over to amsoil synthetic in all these? I don't want to cause any problems, rather I would like to prevent them. Any input would be appreciated. And can someone check my comprehension skills to make sure I read the manual right on the viscosities and volumes and there were no changes to the manual since 99?

    You will have no issues switching to Amsoil. I did the same thing in my 98 at 100k miles. The 3rz became quiter and smoother. Great choice IMHO.

    Amsoil makes a flush for the motor that requires you to drain a quart of oil out and then add the flush. You then run the motor @ 1500 RPM for approxiamately 15 minutes. I did this with mine. It helps to rid the deposits of the dyno oil and sludge. Great investment IMHO. Do be afraid to use it. Everything else will just be a drain and fill.

    Excellent, thanks. I'll drain, flush and fill everything this weekend, along with new belts and air filter element. I like this forum already.

    I see amsoil makes 80W-90, but I see no SAE90. Are theses 2 oils interchangeable for the diffs?
