I may ask what are you using in your trans, diff x2, and transfer case?

Trans been changed twice? Is it something you did in the garage? Heard you needed a special tool to read when the temp was good and blah blah blah

Yeah trans. I do it with an obd 2 reader. When it's within the range (Almost immediately, in AZ) I pull the plug. The second time doing it felt just like a regular oil change, no real magic left in it anymore. Using the mightvac fluid extractor keeps the mess super controllable

Hmmm never thought of using the scan tool to see the tans temp... I may want to change the filter kit, too... I would drop the pan, change the kit... add oil... get to temp, and how do know its topped off? Pull the fill plug while hot? This is the part that bugs me

I really appreciate the info, man.. thx

I'll be doing filter on the next drain, get the pan gasket too. Monitor how much u drain, then add that back, plus some. Then when it's at temp pull the check plug

Keep in mind the transmission temperature is only part of it, the engine speed is the other half. The check mode is done with a jumper (paperclip or similar) in the OBD port, or a special sequence with the shifter on a 2020.

The engine speed might not make much of a difference, but I thought worth mentioning.

Oh, and the transmission pan gasket is the reusable type from what I've heard at least on the newer builds.
