Not only is there no issue, you should absolutely soak the box part of the frame. On my 02 Tundra that's the only place I have a bit of rust so I try to get in as much fluid film as possible.

why don't you use woolWax, that stuff is supposedly 'thicker' than FF. i have several cans of that but have not tested it as of yet

Don't think anything that is oil based (FF is lanolin oil don't see too many rusty sheep) that won't wash off to some extent mine is 9 years old now and sure there is going to be some surface rust wire brush it off paint and then FF it.

Just stop washing it off with high power pressure washer. Let it be dirty or muddy - it is not designed to look nice, but to protect. I drive year round with one application and the only place it goes away is a muffler and exhaust pipes (I think it just buns off). I did drive through some water puddles after left heavy rains and that splashes did not do anything to FF.

    That looks good, real good.
I really need to do mine this summer. On my end of it, it's not so much for rusting out, but just being cleaner under there will make working on anything down there much more tolerable :D
How much would you guess you used for your initial coating? I'm guessing 4ish cans?

It actually washed off right after put on 2nd time driving in a huge rainstorm!
Unfortunately it's been a drought here this year andnot soheavy rain to drive and test 3rd application that now has dirt accumulated
IAM not talking puddles because there were not many of those this year very little snow

I also sprayed FF on the rear metal body panels to protect but it splash right off so easy!
How do you direct me to protect body panel areas if power spraying them is prohibited?
I see what rot it becomes if not hosed out routinely!
That is the battle I have fought hard against for 25 years now lol!
Rotted wheel wells rockers and tailgate areas
It's real as can be here!

I just did a good walk thru on the woolwax website

Looks to me like a MUCH better product overall as opposed to FF!
One main reason being the location it's made vs FF
    Who do you trust?

I anxiously await trying the woolwax and again have a nice section of naked Toyota frame steel to try it out on, ran out of time etc to primer and recoat :(

It may not have actually washed off. Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not working.

Here is my frame after applying fluid film in November. We've had 37 inches of rain in 2020 alone. It still beads up like it's been waxed.

I know it was not working because there was flash rust! I recall running over pure dried road chemicals not just water
I had applied it on freshly blasted naked steel to protect during the winter, I ran out of warm weather to finish primer and paint
Went outside one bitter cold morning looked underneath and there was orange tint all over
But perhaps I sprayed on FF when it was too cold out idk! It was in the low 40s I think lol

Why are you stealing all of our rain here? We are in a serious drought!!! Middle west Iowa..

Woolwax looks like a much more durable product?
    What's wrong with it

Oh, yeah, I see that is pretty wimpy! I've never used the cans. Went whole hog and bought 5 gallons, and the big sprayer.

I made my own out of a length of poly tubing, but a bung in the end and drilled a half-dozen holes, equidistant (more-or-less) around the circumference. Total cost? <$2.00.

+1. One or two runs through an automated touchless car wash took off FF on my rear axle and outer frame surfaces. For next winter I will use FF inside the frame and CRC Marine (cosmoline) outside the frame and on the axle / suspension.

Spray Nine cleans up FF very effectively if you need to paint it.

I've heard only good things about wool wax. I just like Fluid Film and we only get salt once or twice a year here.
