I have about a dump truck load of sand every spring in my front yard that I have to take and sweep up...
So the sand sandblasts the trucks paint and then the salt eats away at it after!
    Poor truck

I was only kidding, hence the i'll do "nothing" about it lol. I live in Berkshire county, MA and use to ski here a while ago. I've had this screen name forever and use it for everything.

I'm not going to do the automatic undercarriage washes. Just hit it quick with the spray wand. I just dont feel comfortable doing nothing though, even if it means some fluid film comes off. The roads get NASTY here in the winter....

My frame is still moist in some places from my application of FF last November (second application).

I did a VERY heavy application Year 1 when I bought the truck. I used the gallon can and got to the point I was literally smearing the frame with it with my bare hands and using a brush to get other areas. I used 2 aerosol cans to spray into the box section where all the known issues were so I'm pretty confident that the inside where the trouble areas are are good.

I do have a little surface rust where paint has chipped off the welds as well as a little rust from the hole where the AC line is (I have since relocated the AC drain) but otherwise I'm doing well.

I do a light hose off when I wash the truck but I don't blast it until the salt goes away.

I'm definitely impressed with the product. I will have to weigh if it makes sense to get the sprayer system from Kellsport this year as I need a new gallon this year as what I have got a little contaminated with dirt.

I like the spray cans for doing the bottoms of the doors and the rocker panels.

Truck'll be just fine doing that. Like I said. Don't waste your money on the soap either. Just give it a real good rinse.

I usually toss in a couple extra quarters to give me the little extra time needed to really rinse it off good.

In western mass here as well...definitely wanting to try FF before winter. What do you guys do to get under your trucks? Ramps? Or just wheel yourself under on a dolly?

That's not nearly as easy. Or as fun for that matter.

Before I got a lift I did the jack stand thing it works and is much easier if you remove all the wheels. The ramps are OK if that is all you have I use them to wash the bottom off before I do the FF. If you are laying under it ware some old cloths eye protection and a mask. The stuff is not toxic but breathing any thing like that can't be good for you.

I just wheel myself under the truck sitting on a cement pad with a dolly. If you go this route then wear old clothes and a face mask. You'll get a little over spray on yourself. Work your way around the truck so that you don't have to be laying under where you just sprayed. It should drip just a little bit if you get it on thick enough, but doesn't leave stains on my cement pad after a rain or two. I usually drop the spare tire and get up into the bumper and the spare rim also.

So I've been reading a lot about FF, and I wanted to ask if I need to avoid any areas when applying? I will hit the frame of course, and have heard to avoid the exhaust. What about the tranny or drive shaft? is there anything I really need to be careful not to hit with this stuff?

Excellent question!! I'm planning on doing this soon as well. I read in some posts that people apply it everywhere...but a definitive question like yours is good.

Frankly I spray pretty much every thing I do try to avoid the exhaust just because it smokes like crazy but it just burns off it won't catch fire. I do exposed bolt treads, backing plates for the brakes, the inside of the bumper, springs, drive shaft pretty much any thing metal. it won't bother any thing electrical or have any effect on balance.
