Yup, you'd like to see a freshly black painted frame if possible with not even any light surface rust. Don't worry about some areas in the chassis that weren't fully painted. Also recommended to avoid any rust inhibitor coating on plastic, or rubber components when possible.

I used Woolwax. It's Fluid Film but thicker. No one has questioned me and most of it (if not all) is still on there from when I applied it last November. Time will tell how well it works but I'm planning to touch it up before this winter. It also gives you a good excuse to crawl under the truck and inspect things.

Not as much to worry about that stuff if not living in the rust belt. Its a different ball game living up here.

You will need more than three for the initial application. I used 10 cans. Also order the flexible wand so I could get into the interior frames spaces ad such.

No, it is not a gimmick. It prevents rust.

I use fluid film on my vehicle. Spray every fall, never clean the old off. Some areas that get high spray and road debris will wear off the film, but just reapply as needed. I used 5 cans initially on first application, and every fall 4-5 cans again. Make sure to spray in every hole and crevice inside the frame and drop the spare tire. Road wash really hits the spare tire area. And don't apply on your driveway or garage floor unless you have the floor covered well as it makes a slippery surface. I always apply mine in the yard. Try to get the spray wand nozzle off Amazon to add to your setup, it makes getting it inside the frame easier.

I bought a setup off ebay or Amazon (cannot remember which) and it came with a gallon can of the stuff, two rattle cans, and a sprayer with extensions that connects to my air compressor. The sprayer came with two bottles you could refill from the gallon can. Ended up being about the same price as a bunch of rattle cans. You can also use woolwax, which is essentially the same stuff as fluid film and made by the same company. It is a little thicker. Supposedly it also smells less but my nose could not tell the difference.

Getting the bucket and sprayer is the way to go. I didn't bother with the cans. Much cheaper in the long run. Assuming you already have a compressor.

Fluid Film guy here. I love the stuff, does the job but don't pick a windy day...and wear goggles!
