So just for fun, I picked up two cans of fluid film on my way home today. I applied liberally.. lol the frame was mostly clean, but not spotless. I dont think spraying over a little dust here and there will be an issue. Got everything thing I could reach by just crawling around. This is mostly a test run to see how it sticks/spreads. Surprised me how thick it was, so I just used a paper towel to wipe up some excess. I'm told all the exposed rubber under new vehicles is oil resistant and shouldn't be affected by any over spray. 20180531_160844.jpg 20180531_160907.jpg 20180531_160844.jpg 20180531_160907.jpg

A little dirty won't be a problem, it will encapsulate that. Leave it all on, won't hurt plastic or rubber. It is basically paraffin wax and linseed oil.

Don’t worry about the rubber parts, there’s no petroleum in FF. It’s lanolin based.

It smells good! I applied this and noticed it did not dry, any one ever worry about driving on the beach and having salt soaked sand or just sand in general sticking to this stuff?

Eventually it will wear off, along with the grime, sand or whatever sticks to it. Thats why it’s not a one time application. Areas that get a lot of road spray from the tires will wear even quicker.

Like I said, this is kind of a test run. Then before winter hits and they start throwing salt everywhere I'll get under it and really get serious. I've managed to avoid any serious issues with my 05 tundra just by religiously washing under it. But this looks like it's even better than just washing. Gotta keep frame number 2 looking fresh.

I sprayed the undercarriage of my truck a few weeks back. Impressed so far how well it has stuck (even after multiple rains and a few car washes), and the shine it gives makes the frame and components look new.

I am assuming having that road grime, sand etc stuck to your frame does not cause any accelerated corrosion to the frame with this stuff or it would have already been identified lol, my main concern is beach sand.

I was thinking this stuff would dry to a semi hard/tacky surface, and was actually surprised when it never dried. Pretty interesting stuff, we use a lot of CPC products at work, and this stuff reminds me of an extremly heavy version that we use on electrical connectors and such. Not something we would use on something that gets heavy use, AMLguard is my favorite stuff though. You would need to have your frame extremely clean prior to application with AMLguard though.

Anybody have any experience putting this stuff in the body? I saw a video by fluid film where they basically took out all the plugs and sprayed everything inside out.

Kellsport sells FF products and they also sell a little kit with rubber plugs and a drill bit for applying FF inside.

Just curious but has anyone applied fluid film over an already rusty (mostly surface rust) frame? Would it help prolong the life of the frame, or just trap it in like a regular spray on undercoating? My truck has seen 7 NE winters , I don't have holes in it but its far from clean.. I am sure there may be better options for my scenario but Iam curious if there would be any advantage at my stage in the game.. Seems like this would be great for a new truck off the lot.

FF over rust would be a positive move for sure, as long as you kept up with it as needed. Your only other alternative is try removing the rust and painting. That’s labor intensive on a rusted frame and you will never get it all. Just try it for a yr. it’s cheap and easy to apply. It won’t trap the rust and moisture because it doesn’t encapsulate like products that dry solid.

It would be great for surface rust. It doesn't encapsulate it, but rather penetrates it and stops it from spreading.
