No way, stock all the way.
That was kinda the way I saw it. I could understand if I was asking for something that they don't offer at all, but the configuration seems to exist from the San Antonio factory but only for the Canadian market. Oh well. If I want a Tacoma bad enough I'll have to get the Sport.

That leaves more money for after market mods!

You cannot build it on the website unless it's for Canada, that configuration does not exist in the USA.

I wouldn't give up the locker and larger rear end
The sport has a smaller rear end and is missing the rear locker. But hey you get that sweet non functional hood scoop and you can get it with a MT straight from a 1970's John Deere. The choice is yours.

Yeah.... that seems to be the consensus. That's to bad. The funny thing is you can get a MT, off-road, IF one is ok with a double cab. Grr :D

That was the original configuration I wanted too but ended up in the DC so I could get the MT. It's been fine, there are ways around hauling stuff with a 1 foot shorter bed.

Have you tried the manual? I was set on it as well until I realized you cant get them on an AC OR. I test drove a stick double cab manual and I hated it.

The only benefit I can see to having a MT AC is that when you're done shifting to second your hand is right there to open the manual rear sliding window.

In the end I personally found foregoing the MT for the added value in the Off Road AC was the way to go for me.

Best of luck on whatever you choose!

Rear end is the same size if he sticks with the MT.

OP, I went with Sport Access Cab 6MT 4x4... It didn't hurt that bad.

Yeah, That's the direction I was going to go. but the beefyness of the Off-Road is talking to me too. But I don't know if I could stand not having a MT. :D Pros and Cons.

I’ve had both a Manual and auto 3rd Gen. I’d 100% go with the Manual (personal preference)

The Canadian versions are all built in Texas. There is no Canadian Toyota truck plant, and Canada does not have an import agreement with Mexico for trucks.

The Canadian spec tacos are different enough that they are a separate model for Toyota to produce in Texas, which is why we get a limited selection up here. They only make the models they can sell a tonne of in Canada to make it worthwhile for Toyota.

Canadian tacos have these differences (that I know of)

-different gauge cluster (kM because we live in the future)
    -different headlight switch function
    -different safety placards
    -bilingual information placards
    -different wattage fog light lamps
-different fog light projection pattern and bezel
-certain provinces require block heater on all models
-all pickup trucks sold in Canada must have a towing package (no grocery-getters allowed up here)
-dash icons for displaying faults and headlight status are different
-tire approvals can be different (why we didn’t get 18” wheels on the limited)
-data transmission and radio approvals different (why we don’t get entune)

Probably some others. All minor things, but different enough that they likely do a run of Canada-bound tacos all at once.

Not “getting” Entune is metaphorically similar to not getting a date with Jeffrey Dahmer.
