Pisgah is national forest right? I know in Allegheny National Forest you can dispersed camp anywhere except a few restricted places.

Yeah it is, I've just seen various no camping signs up around that way. Not sure what the policy is. I would think just setting up 200 feet from the river would be fine that there are no signs forbidding camping.

Also-has anyone tried just using a regular tent in the bed of your truck? I have a two person backpacking tent that is pretty small. Not sure if it will fit or not.

I'm sure it would work. I sleep in the bed of my truck under the Bestop.

    Also

Sounds like you can't just plop a tent down anywhere in Pisgah.

I am a little late on this but I believe there are some designated camping areas toward Edgemont that are right where the DH meets the Wild Trout section. I know that I at least saw a couple decent pull offs with a fire pit. There is also a camping place in Mortimer but that place is a little sketchy haha. If you plan on staying the only two stores I know of are in Mortimer and Edgemont and the one in Edgemont is rarely open when I'm there.

I had planned on going fishing this morning but when I went to get my waders off the porch where they had been drying I found that a rat decided make them his home.

    Question:
If you bought a nice, $400 set of Simms to replace them, would the lifetime warranty apply to something like this?

For this reason I will not get a very expensive pair of waders. I was looking earlier and I might get the Orvis Encounter waders. They are fairly cheap and don't look too bad.

This goes thru my head every time I go into my Orvis store. I think "do I want to spend the long dollar on a set of Simms or Patagonia waders, or do I just by a new set of decent priced waders around a $100 every 2-3 years"?

I haven't had any issue with many of the store brand breathable waders. The only thing I complain about is I can never get a sock foot wader foot that is not ridiculously over sized. I hate having all that extra neoprene balled up in the toe of my boot.

I solved that issue by just buying womens waders. The fit is better in every part of the waders.

I might try the Simms Freestone waders. I just can't justify spending $400+ on waders that I wouldn't use very much. On my previous waders I had the same issue as you.

My G3's fit awesome, but like all waders, they do leak a bit.

Which reminds me, I need to chase those leaks before next weekends trip.
