Stocking should have started this week. From what I hear, it's been tough lately. Seen a couple of the guides putting clients on decent fish (16-20"), but people that aren't on the water every day like a guide are having some trouble figuring them out.

Ya we were just throwing plugs, I'd say we could've done a little better with a fly. I'm ready to start hookin up with the big ones on a rapala again.

The same shit everyone else has.
    Bigger than most of mine.

Biggest wild brookie I've caught was a hair over 12" and biggest wild brown was a hair over 13". Biggest wild bow has only been 9-10". Tons of infertile stream in Western PA make for smaller fish.

If you're catching fish, you're doing it right.

I haven't floated in a while. When I do, I usually take the fly rod and the spinning rod with plugs.

The river has changed over the last few years over all. Way too much pressure now. Especially now that there are more and more and more guides. I hate it.

I hear you man, we passed four or five guides with yuppies. It wasn't even a nice day, when you think the river would be fairly vacant.

Mentored youth trout tomorrow morning. I went and scouted out a few areas. This guy will attract plenty of attention.

Honestly, I don't see it as a big deal as long as there's nothing getting stuck up into their gills. When you go to put them back in the water, everything gets washed off. Yes, trout are fragile, but I don't think they're as fragile as a lot of people let on.

So on a recent business trip I volunteered to give up my seat on a plane in exchange for a round trip ticket anywhere in the US. I was able to get on a flight 45 minutes later, so it had no impact to my travel/business plans.

I'm thinking of using this for a fly-fishing trip out west.

I know this is vague & broad - but any suggestions/recommendations? Prefer wild fish and would don't mind catching fewer, more quality fish.

anywhere in CO, Utah, Montana or Wyoming has an abundance of water for wild trout.

Bozeman or Missoula MT are huge hubs. The Missouri to name one amazing river.

Depends your budget, wading of floating trip in the budget? would you get a guide or all self guided?

    how about alaska?!?!

    where does one even start..
