    i would look into a trip on Montana then and hire a guide for a float trip down the Missouri. a massive river with lord knows how many fish.

    only pitfall is you will have to way until Summer or Fall for a good trip. this time of year most rivers can be blown out with all the snow melt.

    depending on your timeline, and if you can wait, that would be my suggesiton

    Bozeman,Montana,then rent a car, drive to Ennis, Madison Valley. You are now in the middle of the of the best trout water in the lower US. You could spend a lifetime based from Ennis.

    Not that I've fished for trout anywhere outside of my home state, but I have personally always wanted to fish the Missouri. Surely there are some members in this thread from the Montana, Wyoming, Colorado area that could shed some light on the fishing out that way.

    As a college graduation present to myself, I made a 2 week troutbum trip all over Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!!

    I flew in Missoula, rented a (gulp) Jeep JKU to sleep in, and hit rivers/creeks in a big loop from MT-ID-WY-YNP-MT.

    Had some friends in Jackson WY, so made that my halfway'ish point to get showered up.

    Some AWESOME water in that loop - Rock Creek, Big Hole, Madison, Henry's Fork, Yellowstone River/Creeks, Gallatin, Missouri... Blue Ribbon everywhere!

    Man that was a good trip... To be young and free again haha!!!

    Full disclosure, I typically fish at night out there, and the majority of the fish I catch are on plugs. BUT, hit it at the right time and streamer fishing is INSANE.
