Tried the bass this evening but only managed to snag this little guy.
    IMG_2344.jpg
Since the bass weren't cooperating I decided to catch some supper. Probably caught 50, kept a dozen or so.
    IMG_2348.jpg
I even had a bass take one of those guys in his mouth for 8 or 10 seconds while I tried to ease him toward the boat so pops could net it but he let go. We got a kick out of it though. Hopefully I'll get back to the mountains next weekend.

Dont know how many of you have Gander Mtns where you live, but they are going out of business, and Fly Fishing stuff at mine was 30% off. Bought some new Shark Skin fly line for the 3WT for cheap!

Well...nice peaceful morning on the creek was almost ruined. I was walking downstream and kept hearing something big in the woods. Didn't sound like a deer. Then I got a whiff of that nasty bear smell. Was keeping an eye on that, while watching a 18-20" rainbow come up and sip something off the top of the water about every 5 seconds. Went on downstream, caught a few more fish. ..:then...

Made a turn around a tree and BOOM! There's a bear about 15 feet from me getting in the water. We saw each other about the same time and luckily it ran into the woods and not at me.

    Two biggest of the day

Yea, we only have Black bears. It was only probably 175-200 lbs, so it's not like it was gigantic, but it's a little terrifying when you're suddenly like 15 feet from a bear. Lol.

Yep, agreed. I had one do something similar to me. My rod that day was 8' and I could have tapped him/her on the head. Literally was releasing a whitefish when I saw it. I was downwind of it (obviously) so I let the fish go, stood up tall on the rock I was standing on and said "what's up bear" not in a gangster way but more like a what's up buddy way. That thing took the hell off through a 10" manzanita bush and just mowed it over. About 30 seconds later my heart started beating out of my chest and I boogied out of there. On my walk back to the truck which was a few miles away I was buzzed by a red tail hawk and saw two big rattlesnakes. It was a wild kingdom day for sure.
