It's extremely anti-intuitive for sure. Just glad I was able to think quickly & react accordingly. There's always the hindsight "what ifs", but I think I made the best out of a potentially deadly situation.

Got a reference from my father for a local, independent collision center. He was involved in an accident (not hurt) two years ago with his 2004 Trail Blazer. The shop wasn't happy with the aftermarket parts and then ordered OEM. That says something.

I've got a 5 day weekend coming up with the 4th and was planning another trip up for the Hex hatch. $&@#. Hopefully I at least get an SUV for a rental. I've got that coverage, but not sure if they'll swing for that.

Glad your ok! that could have been real bad. Sorry to hear about the truck, but not too bad for being hit by a moose!

Thanks bub! Looking back, when I finally pulled over and got out to observe the damage, my first thought were "that's it". The more/closer I look, the more I see. I've very glad/lucky I avoided any sort of head on/front end damage. I use my truck as a truck, but I also take pretty good care of it. Just want a quality repair job.

Scary incident. My buddy and I were over in the western part of Maine this past weekend, and he had a cow moose bolt out in front of him. He was lucky and was able to stop/swerve. Glad you are okay!

On a smaller scale tho lol. A deer is a lot less likely to come thru the windshield when u take its legs out with the hood/bumper:eek:

If anyone here fishes Black Pine Lake in WA, there's a decent size cutthroat with a white wooly bugger in his lip/ gut. If anyone catches that bastard, I'm offering a reward for that fly. :anonymous:

How do you guys fish with a dog? Mine is a nut and haven't been able to go out with her since she was born. She pulls like a Mac truck on her leash near the lake (wants to jump in). Also, lakes and the like are just littered with old hooks and lures I'd rather not dig out of her paws/nose.

When I lived in CO, a friends son took out a Bull moose with a little Pontiac. Kid had to walk a mile to town at 1 am with a slight head injury. When I looked at the car the next day, that kid is lucky to be alive. A pillar/top of the windshield was like 4 inches from the headrest.

Glad you are ok Mark. Now, how was the fishing?

Going to have a chance to fish at the Big Rock Creek Fly Fishing Club near Spruce Pine, NC as a guest on Tuesday. I am not sure how to feel about fishing in a private club, but there are supposed to be some really large fish in there, some close to 30 inches.

John Geirach wrote that there is no such thing as a good fishing dog lol

I take my dog fishing,I keep him on a short leash when I'm around other fisherman and he knows the "heel" command for when stealth is more important. It helps that he's like 20 lbs lol

I would start by regularly training with leash discipline then learn to heel well

As far as the hooks go she'll get more torn up by streamside vegetation lol

And make sure u set aside some splash fun time
