I don't take my dog fishing, he doesn't like the water. He gets in at the house to his knees and that's it. He's probably not well-behaved enough either haha. My prior German Shepherd was the complete opposite. He'd literally follow us around in the boat and we'd have to scoop him up because he wouldn't go back to shore.

I had a bunch of strikes but got shutout in the stream. Hit up a lake on the way home and could not interest the big bass I saw all over with anything i had but the sunfish were killing a foam ant...not as bad a day as some it seems and still a lot of fun.

My damn GoPro won't connect to my phone for some reason. I've got a good pic/video of a good fish from tonight on there. Caught 2 good fish, several decent ones tonight.

It all starts with basic obedience & yard work so they know what is expected of them in the field (hunting, fishing, public manners, etc). Start short & small and when they do well, praise and then raise the bar. If you have setbacks, always go back to what they know and end a training session on a positive note.

I don't fish places that are littered with hooks & lures, so I'd simply advise that that's not the best place to even be taking a dog.

Amidst all the Moose nonsense I forgot to even mention the fishing.

Fished a couple of larger rivers and did very well on landlocked salmon....had one one that must have been close to 24" and must have jumped about 6' out of the water. I was fishing a 5wt with a tan/olive caddis with a black stonefly dropper (barbless) and it spit the hook in mid jump. I think those moments are just as exciting as getting a fish to net. Hit some ponds I frequent and did well on brook trout with dries as well. Nothing big - but these fish only get about 12" max in these ponds, so the 10" native brookies are just a treat to catch.

Nothing wrong with private water pigs. It's a blast and change of pace sometimes. Have fun and put on some 3x

I've fished 1 "trophy area", and it was a ton of fun. You still have to figure out what they fish are eating and get them to actually eat, then play them into the net, so there's really not much different from public water fishing...other than the fact that it's catch and release and there's less fishing pressure.

I didn't freak out about those fish the way I do public water monsters because I knew they were raised to be huge, but it's still a lot of fun and you can get some nice pictures.

Agree with you there. Doesn't quite touch the soul like one of similar size on public water.

My lab is the same way. I have to leave him in the truck bed with cap or he will be swimming in the water the whole time. You could try a canoe and see if the dog will stay in the boat.

There really aren't any "monsters" in the water I frequent so it will be a new experience. The largest trout I've caught was shy of 18 inches. I guess I need to move to Blue ridge haha.

    Congrats to her!

I love the white gray roosters for trout. My boy has come close a few times, but has yet to catch one on a spinner.

Haha. Come on down. We'll hit the water, no problem.

Awesome! Doesn't matter what it's on, just get those young'uns hooked early!

You'll have a ball if you're fishing trophy waters then! You'll be spoiled. Lol.

Come on down. We aren't called the trout capital of Georgia for nothing!

The same shit everyone else has.
Anyone in here fish the Savage River drainage or the North Branch of the Potomac in MD?

My old lady's family rented a huge cabin in Deep Creek for the last weekend in July. I didnt plan on going until I realized how close both the Savage River and NB of the Potomac was to it. And she said shes doesnt care if I spend the whole weekend fishing, so Im taking full advantage of it.
