I'd hope so. You tie at work?

I wish I had more time to tie. I have to whip out 300-350 eggs for salmon/steelhead in October.

Does it feel rigid and solid or does the delrin compromise that? That is the only reason I'd opt for the renzetti traveler over the danvise, but if it isn't an issue I'll buy it instead. I picked up an old desk the other week for the purpose of being a tying station.

I used to then some bright ass decided to bring in a 1-1/4" granite slab and put it on the table in the kitchen. Kind of ruined where I mounted the vise. They threw the desks in out rooms away with no warning so I brought all my stuff home. Haven't touched it in a while. I have a few flies I bought in my box and a few I've tied left in there. There' isn't a lot of places around here with enough room to fly fish. I go with the aggravation sometimes of getting hung up and do it anyway sometimes. I took it with me to the lake the other day when I took little man fishing but didn't get it out.

Around here you can throw a rubber legged dragon anywhere and catch fish. Anything from Bream to bass to catfish, it's a great little fly. The chain on the ceiling fan at work has gotten shorter a few times when I needed eyes. I've hit all 3 of them for supplies. lol

The only place I've noticed any flex is in the delrin rod that goes between the base and the rotary part of the vise. It's not really an issue when tying though. I guess you could use a metal rod if it bothered you.

Go for it! It's fun and a lot cheaper in the long run. Plus you can tie up any pattern you want that local shops don't carry.

A California Mosquito is awesome around here for panfish. You won't find one anywhere near me to buy.

But think of all those flies.

Just wait till you start keeping dryer lint for dubbing. Lol

That's true, but I already have everything I need to fish, I was just trying to get into tying some of my own flies.

Don't forget raising chickens just for the feathers, then peacocks, then...who knows what next.

Its just cheaper to buy flies in the long run:)

Lol I have set aside some things around the house for it. Old sewing thread, feathers, deer tails, squirrel hides, etc. I have attempted to tie a couple, none of which have turned out well.

And on a side note, has anyone fished a Scott Tidal before? Opinions on Scott in general would also be great. Nobody around me carries Scott rods but they appear to be what I need and I am getting desperate for an 8wt to take to the coast in September.

I thought it was required to have a Orvis Helios 2 for saltwater fishing. :stirthepot:

Don't be bring that rod up! There is a coupon code that brings the price down to less than $800. I don't need to be looking for another rod!:anonymous:

Heard it was so much better and sweeter casting than the Helios 1.

If you get it and feel bad I'll trade you a TLS with a superfine reel seat for it.
