Biggest trout I've caught came from the Toccoa when I did a guided float. Im sure you're familiar with the guys at Oyster? I did one of their rod making classes a few years back and still like to catch up with them whenever I visit Blue Ridge

I can't remember his name to save my life. It was right around when Unicoi sold the shop to the guys at Oyster and it changed to Blue Ridge Fly Fishing. I do recall he only guided there a few months and regularly guided out of Henry's Fork

Oh damn. That's been a while then. I don't even remember who was there back then. That river has changed a lot since then too. How big was you biggest?

Whats your preferred brand of elk hair to tie with?

I need to restock alotta dries in my boxes.

All the hair Ive used seems to be meh for tying elk hair caddises/anything with elk hair wings. It all flares out too much for my liking.

    Any suggestions?

Can't take a pic of the actual one I've been catching them on, as it's currently in a tree. But it's just a brown body, brown thread

I might give some of these a go on the vice. These can be tied either dubbing and chenille? Is the yarn on top to simulate wings or used as an indicator?

mats, flaps, and stickers. Extang solid fold 2.0. Mobtown sliders and full skids. AVS vents
I was going to go with ant/hopper/tent winged caddis.

I'm gonna have to tie some up. I've tied up a buncha normal Chernobyl's and used them with success. I like the white wing, it makes for a nice indicator.

The biggest brook trout I've ever caught was off a hellgrammite. That was back when I primarily spin fished. Live hellgrammite fishing under an undercut bank, it weighed 5.06. Fish destroy them in and I've been looking for a good hellgrammite fly imitation for awhile.

I broke down and picked up a Cabela's Prestige 5 weight. I hate to admit it, but for $100, this rod is as good as my Orvis Clearwater in the same weight...and the warranty is better.

I almost didn't post this, the rods are that good.
