I was actually recommended those same models by a friend recently and just haven't had the time to give them a look.

And yeah, I definitely need a drag that won't burn out in one season of salmon fishing.

I'm headed to Alaska next year for a fly-fishing trip and I picked up 2 of the Lamson Litespeeds (size 3.5 for a 7 wt). For an 8 weight you may want a #4.

I wish I needed another reel. The deal will end and my reel will now break this weekend or next.

If I had the need for an 8WT reel - I'd be all over it as well.

Get the rod, then you'll have a need for the reel. Then you can start looking for places to use it.

I wish - but I'm not a saltwater guy (maybe I should) and there's no place in Maine where you need more than a 5/6 WT.

I've got some 7wts I could use for Pike. LL Salmon - 5/6 is all you need - even for some of the larger 20"+ fish.

Musky are only way up near the Canadian border.

Come over to New York, and fish for king, coho salmon, and big browns and steelhead.

I'm gonna go against the grain. I picked up one a month back. I don't like it. It feels " tinny".

It will forever be a backup reel.
