Rabbit strips look and move great in the water... But it def doesn’t repel it. Rabbit strip holds water and it casts like a wet sock... But dang it looks good in the water!

Sure, if you double haul cast.

For the most part, casting those big flies that hold water isn't very pretty. You're mainly trying to prevent a head or eye injury. You're usually trying to cover a lot of water. Presentation isn't nearly as important with wet flies like that...versus a floating dry fly that you want to land gently on the water.

I call Streamer season "Hard Hat" season.

And streamers are generally fished using a heavy, sink tip line, so it "shoots" on the forward & back cast. You can't false cast much with it as the loop can collapse fairly easily. That's where a double haul helps. Lots of good videos on the double haul. But I'd advice learning & mastering the basic cast first.

Appreciate it! Self-taught caster, flaws and all lol!

Hauling, especially on the forward cast seems so counter-intuitive... You are pulling line backwards while forward casting to help make longer casts?!?! Yeah, makes no-sense... But it works! It’s all about generating line speed.

It took me a long time to get the concept and timing down on the double haul. I can’t remember who did the video, but it showed someone making a double haul motion with a pen, instead of a rod... Sitting around mimicking that is what really helped me figure it out.

Start with your rod hand (pen hand lol) up by your ear, with your line hand there as well. When the pen goes back, your line hand goes down toward your hip. As your backcast unrolls, your line hand slides back up to your rod hand. And on the forward cast, line hand pulls back down toward your hip.

Edit: Here it is - Sexy Loops
    http://www.sexyloops.com/beginners/doublehaulbasic.shtml

Looks like the original video link is broken, but there is a .gif of the pen motions

Regarding bunny strips... they make awesome flies. I tie up a sort of zuddler where the tail and top of the body is a single rabbit strip. I usually fish an unweighted line, and these have tungsten heads and I'll still wrap some weight around the hook shank. You can buy dyed rabbit pelts and make a billion or so strips.

The left side of my streamer box is all this type... the white ones on a sunny day are great. the body is made with white erstaz, so it's sparkly and enticing. Gotta throw that meat.
