They’re definitely here. I don’t fish it that often during the warmer months. It’s too busy. Tubers, kayakers...it’s turned very commercial over the last few years.

I love fishing the upper reaches of the Chattooga near Clayton, GA. Not many monsters to be had but a beautiful river and a blast to catch.

I think we’re possibly trying to head to Mountain Home/Cotter the first weekend of October. Date might change, but that’s the one we’re pinpointing right now.

That'll be about time for some streamer eaters. I usually start heading up there early Oct. before the lakes turn over and turn all the water clarity way down.

Oh yeah. Totally in agreement. Would rather be out catching fish and being out in the woods.
I really appreciate how gifted she is and she is just doing it for fun.
Reminds me a little of the Edwin Rist story. :anonymous:

It’s funny but I know some of the old timers that hang at the ponds.... BS ing
That can’t make it out to the rivers much anymore due to ailments and what have you. But to have a young enthusiast step in to their den..... they polished her skills like a prized gemstone!!!

Have you read The Feather Thief? It is a shame that Rist never did time for his crimes.

Went out for a few hours to a local creek that’s cold all year. Managed one, just as the wife and boy pulled up on their bikes from their ride around the park we were in.

The fish was resting in a small seam adjacent to a pool. He hammered a #12 BH olive bugger. Looks like he survived an attack from a great blue heron. Not that long, but had some shoulders on him. Handed the rod off and let the boy bring it in.

I wish I was. I’m the kind that says one more cast for a few hours. Then has to walk out in the dark.
