Oh man, you will love it. I replaced an old fly line of mine and wow, what a difference.
Lol, I've edited the name but too late I think. I will call it *mystery lake now.

Question for all you sock foot wader owners?

How big do you buy your wader boots?

I'm an 11. I opted for a 13 for room for insulated socks and the neoprene wader foot.

Too big, too small or just about right?

Try them on, to make sure. Call a knowledgeable Fly Shop and ask advice. I have foot issues so I go a little bigger.

Well, it’s been nice for a few days. No rain. But I’ve been working. I’m off tomorrow, but, of course, it’s going to rain. All the creeks are still high from all the rain we’ve had and most of the rivers are generating to keep the lakes below flood pool...so fishing has been non-existent for me lately :(

That’s how TN has been too. Average discharge round 23,000CFS from dams needs to be 100-500cfs to even wade lol. Streams are blown out too.

    I feel your pain.

My local river usually flows at 150 cfs. Only one generator, which puts it at about 1600. They’ve let the gates open so it’s been at 2600 lately, which is extremely high for this river. The upper half of the river above the dam is wadeable at 400, but it’s flowing at 1600+

Aren’t the sizes adjusted for? I wear a 9.5, and just buy a 10. They have been fine. As suggested, find a local shop and try some on.

Any Eastern Washington Taco + fly fishers? I just drove out to Amber yesterday I figured it was still frozen and it was, but I saw 3 rigs with small alum boats in tow heading to Sprague Lake I think, as it's all that's open.

My local Cabela's (Bass Pro) offers free fly tying classes every Tuesday night...and they supply the materials.

Doing a 3-4 day backpack/fishing trip this weekend in Pisgah. I've been having a lot of success euro nymphing on the streams in upstate SC, but unsure if I should take my 10+ ft rod when backpacking. What say ye all, take my nymphing rod or go with an all-around like my 8' 4wt? Wouldn't mind throwing some dries if I see some activity, but the section we're fishing has deep pools so I'll stick to nymphin the majority of the time.

Side note, I've always fished with my pack on and just set up camp when dusk isn't far off, but my buddy is going and he wants to hike in, set up a camp, then fish that area. What do you guys typically do? I think fishing with my pack might be more uncomfortable but I'd cover more water.

Could you set camp early and then hike around with fishing pole?

Typically just go with the same size as regular shoes, or a half size up if you're between sizes. Always best to try on as others have suggested, but I do think companies accommodate for stockingfoot waders.

Yea definitely could, just not sure how much water we can cover so I'd like to not stray too far from camp. The trail loops around where the tributaries come down from the mountains and I'd like to bushwhack up the stream to see if I can find some brookies. I'm probably being paranoid but I also feel I'd be worried if I left all my expensive backpacking stuff in camp while we're out fishing all day.
