Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
I really like the Madison. Usually go in the fall and wade it. Been in a lot of it from Quake lake to Ennis. The Ruby is nice but seems to have more deep random holes to fall in and land owners less friendly if you step up on dry land.

Wish i could find a job there as good as i have here.

New Zealand’s alright, but tough. Argentina is the place to go for trout fishing. Best place in the world, in my book.

Looks like you’ve probably already been on your trip, but the Toccoa/North Georgia is my home waters.

Yea, you can get out and wade in the majority of the river as long as they’re not generating. Who was the guide and what was the private water? Noontootla creek farms? Or did you go to Bob’s? I can’t remember what he calls his little stretch, but I know Bob owns it

In other news, after losing my st croix/sage set up back In January and being sick about it ever since, I finally replaced the rod with a G Loomis IMX pro. Still gotta find a reel to throw on it. Been fishing with my 3 wt redington since I lost everything.

I think you need to take me fishing. I'm just getting back into it this year and have only gone a couple places here in GA. I'd like to know more places to go without having to spend all my time driving all over to find out I can't access here or there.

Man.... We didn't get to fish but for like 2 hrs. It was a couple of weeks ago when y'all got 3in in one night. They canceled the trip the night before (we were a little mad cause the weather completely missed us in memphis). But it rained every stinkin hour while we were there (Thurs night until Sunday). Luckily they weren't generating on the Toccoa, so I took the Mrs and played "guide". There wasn't much place to fish cause like 500yds down from the dam, the water turned doodoo brown. Caught a couple of stockers, but it rained the entire time.

We stayed on the Cartacay and that river rose like 2ft in elevation and was roaring.

We want to go back so bad and fish Noontootla. Their instagram page is like salt on a wound.

Oh shit. Yea, it was miserable for a while. Between November and February, we got like 30” of rain. Needless to say, I haven’t been able to fish much. Water from the dam to the first creek that flows in is always clear, so you’ve always got that little 1/4 mile stretch to fish. Once you hit that creek, though, you might as well be fishing in Nesquick.

Just to rub it in a little more, I’ll throw some of my local fish up ;). Some of these came from Noontootla, but not from Noontootla Creek Farms.

Dang man, those are some nice fish!

Yea. Have no control over the weather, but man was the wife pissed.

She is worried that if we plan it again, the same thing will happen....

It was my first time in No GA, and it was beautiful even through the rain

Don’t let her be gun shy. That rain was absolutely abnormal. We were getting 9-12 inches in a month. Months when we would typically get MAYBE 3-4”. Don’t come over the summer. It’ll rain every afternoon.

Got the skunk off the new G Loomis IMX pro. Quick trip to the creek just before dark this evening. Might have gotten to fish for 30 mins. Water was a little high and stained from rain last night, but I did manage to pull this little Chubby chaser

I'm thinking about trying to come out in the late fall. Weather will be nicer and fishing is typically better. One "new problem" we have now, is that my kid will be starting school so we have to typically start abiding by school vacation times.

Summer fly fishing is hit or miss. It can get so hot. Fishing is typically a little slower, and the quality of fish goes down (at least over in AR). And since i catch/release, it's harder on the bigger fish.

Kinda sucks this year. After about November, AR got good amounts of rain, so the tailwaters have been generating pretty much non-stop since February..... and i don't have a boat! LOL

I haul a Jon boat 600 miles to Arkansas once or twice a year. Terrible drive, but so much fun once you get there.

    Another on from this weekend.

    upload_2019-5-7_1-15-21.jpg

I feel like I’ve finally discovered the perfect brown trout nymph. It’s tied like a Rainbow Warrior, but with an olive underbody, Veevus pearl tinsel, UV Shrimp ice dub, and pink hot spot.

    upload_2019-5-7_1-22-11.jpg

It’s been responsible for more fish the past few months than r etyrhibh elsr I’ve fished combined.

Chubbies are hands down my favorite dries. Some of my best fish have come on Chubbies.

    Exactly.

Except I drop one of those rainbow warrior looking things under the rubber legs. Hard to beat a juicy steak and baked potato with a side of butter.
