Ya know, I didn't even think about heading out there. You're right though, that's an incredible brown fishery. Definitely going to consider that.

Smallmouth action around here is pretty hot as well. When it comes to trout, fishing the same tailwaters over and over just gets a little old sometimes...
North GA does have a few float-able trout streams that would be interesting to check out.
Yeah the wild browns up there are pretty unreal. Beautiful rivers too.

There is a book about this: The Feather Thief, by Kirk Wallace Johnson. It is a good read, especially interesting if you tie your own flies.

Some Winter fish porn from California. The cold, snowy Winter conditions help keep the crowds down in an area that gets way too much pressure during the warm weather months.

Nothing to see here folks. Those fish all where photo shopped to look large. I can assure you there are no fish in any eastern Sierra waterway that exceed 14 inches. lol

Nice fish man. Looks like you guys had a good time.

    Reserected from the dead.

I was just at the Au Sable Wednesday scouting out some new wading accesses. There are at least 20 accesses that are wadable East of Grayling. Almost the entire river is wadable. It was completely ice free as well along the shores. Last time I fished it, the ice was 3' out from the shore. Made it a bit difficult to get into the river.

The river is plenty wide to run a drift boat or an Au Sable river boat. I was actually putting together a float with my handicap friend that lives along the river. He can't wait to float the river in my drifter.

Stephan Road Party Store has some of the best pizza in the area.

Plenty of places to stay in Grayling 10 minutes away.

If you hear thunder, it's not thunder. The Camp Grayling National Guard does artillery practice all the time. The river actually runs thru the part of the NG training areas. It's not uncommon to meet up with some tanks on the forest trails that lead to the river. Note: It's common for people to find live artillery in the river and forest around Camp Grayling. (at least more common than most places). If you see something odd, don't grab it. I actually know people that have lost their hand from this.

This river is very special to me and I have no issue sharing it with others. Just please leave it better than you found it.

    I love the area.

Just moved up to CO about 4 months ago still learning to fish trout.
I use a Scott radian 5wt and a Scott G series 4wt with Ross evolutions and scientific anglers amplitude mpx. Excited to get back out there when it warms up and I can camp out of my rtt but here’s a 20”+ cutthroat 9C0F53BA-2753-4211-B04A-81DB7FEDAA09.jpg

Yep... None here. There's none in Pine Creek, or Kettle Creek, or Slate Run, or Oil Creek, or Spring Creek, Slippery Rock Creek, Penn's Creek...

I have no problem with the question! Finding the location is one thing and pulling fish out of the water is another. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope they can snag these guys when the season allows!

Yeah, Hiking is the key anymore. Otherwise it's combat fishing with people squatting in any holes all day long.

Man I miss fishing upstream and then circling back to do it again.

Got out today for the first time this year. Caught 12 rainbows down town. Might go back out tomorrow for an hour or 2.

I love fishing the streams going thru town. No one seriously fishes them. Access is always so easy.

Also you can see the envy in the workers with office windows.

    Poor bastards.

This was the river running through town. Up here there is no way to fish streams during this time of the year.
