Cut & broke off some stuff.
Arkansas has some nice fishing but water levels vary a lot. White River is bigger water than the Little Red. Wading is tough to impossible sometimes in White. Other times it's awesome. When the dams open gates, levels can rise scary quick. Heard that Missouri has some good spots too but haven't tried.

Great info. As for your request, most definitely. When backpacking, camping, fishing, or doing nearly anything else outdoors I always practice that motto. Nothing pains me more than to see trash or other forms of disrespect in an otherwise pristine and undisturbed location.

We are planning this trip for late spring or early summer, so ice shouldn't be an issue. Do you have any stretches you'd recommend floating over the others?

I am also curious about the pike scene in the area. Neither of us have ever fished for northerns and would love to give them a shot if there is decent water nearby. I have read about some small lakes in the area that hold pike, but what about rivers? Are there any rivers or non-motorized lakes in the area that offer decent pike fishing?

    Thanks!

Were they taking the chubby you're fishing with, or are you using it just as an indy?

We didn't, but it's always tempting to fish in the forbidden zone! But we found some fine fish in the public section far away from the barbed wire wall.

I got dumped a few weeks ago so I escaped to Florida for some fishing in Tampa Bay for a happiness reset. I had a great time.

No, we launched out of Safety Harbor. We didn't leave Old Tampa Bay.

My first time. I did two trips with the guide (Court Douthit... great guy). The first day was overcast, so we had a hard time sighting the redfish (although I hooked one that was tailing with one of the best casts of my life... but then I tried to set the hook and fight it like the jackass trout fisherman I am). I could a few trout and a nice ladyfish... and saw some baby tarpon rolling in one of the canals.

The next day was sunny and we saw a lot of redfish... but of course they could see us too. We spooked a lot. but it was super fun.

    Nymphing with an indy question:

What's ya'lls take on fishing a double nymph rig vs a triple?

I've been running a triple all throughout the winter season, but I'm not convinced having the extra fly is worth the tangles and increased amount of tippet used. If I land a fish on anything but the bottom nymph, I pretty much have to re-rig each time.

The same shit everyone else has.
I’ll fish em from time to time.

Usually in bigger rivers where all 3 nimps can get down low enough.

Usually do this when I’m trying to figure out what they wanna eat.

Does it tangle more? You bet your ass it does.

Once I figure out what they wanna eat I’ll go back to a double rig just to make life easier.

Yep, Usually when I throw on a 3rd Nymph it's to just test another fly (usually a Midge here in CO) to see if they take it. Once I zero in on what is working back to double.

Makes sense. My go-to has been a 16 mini-leech to 22 disco/rainbow warrior to 26 mercury midge. The 16 and 26 get all the action. I think it may be time to drop the middle man.

Interesting, for me (almost zero still water fishing) It's the RS2 and BH flashback Pheasant Tail (Last 2 years I have been using Soft Hackle versions). During Hatches Barr's Emerger both in surface film and 6-8 inch's under.

Pretty much the same stuff up in WY too, just larger sizes!

Just re-posted my 4wt G Loomis outfit for sale again in the 'for sale other' thread. $300 shipped to lower 48 states. Rod, reel (floating line/backing), spare spool (sink tip line/backing), sleeve, rod tube, 2 reel pouches. Gonna give it till the end of March. Same rod with sleeve only just sold on eBay for $157 shipped. I think my extras are worth more than $143. Let me know.

WBF610, sorry, don't know how to link the thread.......just posted it yesterday so it should be near the top starts with "RESURRECTED THIS.....
Rod is a Pro 4X. Gotta find the reel in a bit and check. Brand is G Loomis though and I don't think they made many models of reels.

    Reel is a G Loomis CURRENT 3-4

    Link to the ad (I hope)......THANKS WBF610!!

Does anyone know of a good site that has pictures/tutorials of different types of euro jig nymphs? Videos are fine, but I prefer the step by step guides.

I started tying up some frenchies to get ready for spring. I can't tell you how much better it feels moving back up to that size range....spinning thread around a size 26 hook is no fun at all.
