this chubby guy ate a chubby fly a few years back

 

Chubby with a pat’s rubber legs dropper is my best fish producing combo. Seems I can catch a fish on that any time of year, which is strange.

July 5th - Arrive in Helena and shuttle to the lodge
July 6th-8th - Guided driftboat fly fishing the Missouri river
July 9th - Shuttle to the airport

The cost for the trip is $2050 (this is the price before the $200 discount).

new into fly fishing. loving it so far.
Does anyone have a pair of budget sunglasses they swear by? The random Amazon/truckstop picks haven't worked out the best.

 

For seeing into the water and flyfishing you need a pair of GOOD polarized glasses.

When it comes to my eyes and especially for fishing you get what you pay for and I'll alwyas go with the best I can afford.

Costa Del Mar, Maui Jim, Hobie, Scott, Oakley all make good fishing specific polarized glasses.

And make sure to get a sunglasses strap, preferably one that floats.

I have a neon pink rubber strap; it's ugly and damned near impossible to lose.

I had a couple hours this evening so I hit the water. Caught 8. Most on the chubby, couple on a rainbow warrior.

Nice Hen LL Salmon. Took a big olive green Zuddler on a 300g sink/shooting head (using a 6wt) . For a moment, I thought I was hooked on bottom. So much fun.

So, I ordered some cicada flies. I’ve seen a few around here colored like this, so I pulled the trigger on them. We’ll see how they work soon.

 

Headed out for memorial day weekend camping. First trip with the camper. Hopefully it allows me to sneak away for an hour or two in the morning to get some fishing done before everyone wakes up.
