Fly Fishing BS thread

It was getting dark and the little dude wouldn’t quit thrashing lol

 

Getting ready for a smallmouth trip. Had to tie a few more Creek Crawlers.

Native brookies in remote ponds. I fish from a canoe and don't take em out of the net/water.

 

I think I caught a wild tiger tonight

they sporadically stock them in the system but there are wild browns and natives too so wild tigers are possible albeit super rare

if it is a stocker it has the cleanest fins and snout I’ve ever seen on a hatchery fish lol

 

Thought I'd try targeting a different species on the Tenkara and I caught one!

 

definitely a tiger trout. Job well done. I have yet to touch one

 

Had a wedding around Mt Shasta over the weekend and was able to sneak in some fishing on the McCloud River…one of the prettiest spots I’ve ever fished. And caught some wild rainbows and hooked a massive one but he won the fight. Wish I was still there.

Cicada fly still hot

 

These were caught on cicadas Sunday.

 

Toads. Looks like solid weather too.

 

It was about 55 when I left the house. By the time I got where I was going (30 min drive) it was almost 65. Wasn’t bad in the shade of the canopy at all. Definitely need some rain to get the water level back up, though. That creek gets low and hot in a hurry.

 

I'm thinking @dwalden2 has a tank of fish at home that he brings out to pose with in the creek.

I still think it's crazy seeing fish like that in GA.

 

haha, I want to see the fly he is catching those fish on. Cicada? Or just a big humpy?

 

Back from the Ozarks and putting those flies to good use. Can’t wait to get back!

Buddy and I were able to double up a couple of times, too. Pretty cool when they come out of the pool being chased by a friend…another fly in the general area is likely to result in a hook up.


And you can pick up some bonus species, too.
