I have been toying with the idea of an aluminum box that would accommodate rods popped in half. Full rod vaults are just way to big and I would want my rod flopping around in a tube anywho. This way you could easily strap it to a roof rack or if your tent rack is tall enough possibly under the tent.

I believe river quiver is making a short option now. I have the old 9’ rod version on the 4 runner and it doesn’t harm my rods while moving from spot to spot during a day of fishing but I do not store them in it. I also use the little foam things I think they call them stools.

Buy a couple of these, easier than the foam bits. I use them in my Yakima Double Haul. I don't worry about the rods at all anymore when going down rough roads.

Anybody ever seen a Mormon cricket? Big ugly screeching crickets…that hatch by the thousands…jump in the water…float down river and grab anything they can…

All the feedback I have gotten is its a dace, some sort of bait fish. Never seen one before so I'm not 100% sure.

I saw something similar when fishing yellowstone years ago. Was during a drought there, ground was cracked in places and in late evening some of the biggest fattest crickets I've ever seen came up and out of the cracks. Big as my thumb.

No monsters, mostly average, but got in some fishing this weekend for a few days. Was very nice to get to throw some loops. Broken ankle killed an earlier trip and it was nice to be able to wade again. Thunderstorms eventually blew the river out. Got in one spinner fall evening with a good cigar to boot.

My first fly fishing gear (new rod, reel, line and flies) cost a total of $5.00 +/- when I was 10 or 12 years old!!!! That was over 50 years ago!!! I did catch my first trout on a dry fly using it when I was 22 years old or so.

most of those flies look like wet flies.

Get yourself a clear intermediate (whole sink tip is clear and sinks slowly) sink tip and a t7 sink tip 5’ and strip and swing those flies in lakes, or rivers where the calm seem meets the fast water…:) easy way to produce nice fish and often big fish
