My guess is there is no up-grade for the flex plate other than the material it's made from.

You need an aftermarket converter with a custom stall, if they are available.

    Good luck.

You'll only get a replacement flexplate, if one is even needed.

If you do drop the trans, a rear main seal for the motor is a good idea.

    So to confirm..

There are no flexplate "upgrades?" Only flex plate replacement?

I will give the benefit of the doubt to the transmission guy. If there's a tic and he seems to think it's coming from the flexplate. I'll go with that.
Your best upgrade (other than the new flexplate, while the trans. is off is in refreshening the trans. New seals, reset bands flush it out well.
A new torque convt. is probably not warranted unless visual says otherwise.

As far as upgrade there, a stock (especially truck) engine won't benefit from a high stall converter and factory is prob. as low as you'll find w/o getting one built cutom.

I disagree for multiple reasons that I'll share.

I had my A340F rebuilt which included and aftermarket/ OEM style converter. All was good until the converter let go, literally.
The trans shop pulled everything apart, cleaned and replaced what was need along with another new aftermarket converter.
The truck was a complete slug, had zero pick up and mpg's went way down.
After some time, they took my truck in, replaced the converter and it did give it a bit more pick up, but not much.

My sister-in-law has a great hookup on OEM parts, so I ordered a new converter from Toyota. She also recommended and great trans shop to do the install as I had lost faith in the previous shop.
The owner hooked up a SnapOn diagnostics machine to the OBDII port and went for a drive. The converter had the wrong rpm stall which was 2100 rpm.
After the new OEM unit was installed, the truck ran like new. Stall was 2300 and all was good.

There is a guy on TW that went through many converters and had one made to his setup/ liking. Pricey but worth it to him.

I must say I have the 3RZ motor and I need all I can get out of this thing... especially after gaining 1300 lbs over stock form.

    Hope this helps you OP.

I said stock, you said stock. No disagreement here.
Yes, heavier vehicles can use a higher speed or re gear.

At this point my decision is to drop the tranny, and have the flexplate looked over for cracks and broken teeth.
Likely one or both have occurred and flexplate needs replacement. While the tech is in there, I will request a flush, new rear main seal, and bands if his expertise warrants their replacement.

I'm going to stay away from a custom torque converter for now because I feel I will get the power I'm looking for with a supercharger.
Are any of you running a high flow catalytic converter ? What are your thoughts ?
    Thank you for eveyones input.
