Yes - switches just fine when stuck on the metal. The base doesn't seem necessary in my case.

Not likely soon - We're really low (less than 10) on V2W mounting plates right now.

Also, the 3VP-RS v1 beta lights are selling super fast - much faster than anticipated. They will go on back order VERY soon.

Replacement stock for both the V2W and 3VP has been ordered. I will make updates here regarding the status of both.

All, some have expressed interest in a 'cased' version of this little light... Currently, we are sold out of the 3VPs - the naked version, without a case.

That being said, it seems there are two distinct markets; naked and tuxedo.

FYI, preliminary designs are already on the virtual drawing board - no, you can't see them yet. The intent is to design the case to 'complete' the beta version.

IF we bring this to market, it will likely not be available until around Xmas and we already expect the new unit to jump in price to about $24.75 pending mold / unit / finishing costs. The existing 3VP should remain available at the current $12.75 pricing.

Please remember, we do NOT manufacture in CHINA - this is why the pricing is what it is. US labor doesn't come cheap.

Regarding finishing, we may have our friend Seth at RL Hydrographix hook us up with some sweet graphics for some options.

Ehh designs or sweet graphics not important to me. Majority of the time the consoles are closed...for me, just as long as it matches the other existing product, its fine heh.

 

The case doesn't have to be anything more than a slightly diffused plexiglass that clips onto the circuit board. And also, it might be a good idea to black out the top part of it so that when you look in your sight isn't affected by the direct light from the LEDs. I'm finding that when I look in there, my vision is being washed out by the direct light from the bulbs. I just put little pieces of card stock over them to shield the light and I can see in the console SO much better now. And diffused light would provide a softer, more even spread of light.

Otherwise, I couldn't be happier with this thing and I hope you make many more cause I can think of about a million other places I could use one!

Recently received and installed my 3VP. I experimented a little and decided to mount it on the hinge side with the magnet on the hinge. I used masking tape to position the light and magnet first to assure proper operation. Once I determined the correct location, I permanently mounted it using the attached tape. So far I am very pleased with my V1 and 3VP.
