FYI - We are down below 50 remaining units for the V1 and/or V2W product line (cases are identical). IF you've been considering this accessory, don't wait too long. We are NOT going to re-introduce this product.

Also, BIG thanks to ALL that have supported us over the years and appreciate what we do. Thank you!

Yeah sorry About that. Here’s the best pics I can really offer since I can’t remove the face plate as it’s attached to brackets to the head unit. It’s the Scosche Double din kit for 2005-2011 Tacoma’s. Here’s a pic of it stock and the best angle I can get after taking my hvac cover piece off. I guess my question is what plastic i am supposed to cut. the plastic of this dash kit undersurface ? Bc I don’t really see what else there is to cut. And how far back into it to cut? Sorry I’m new to mods and trying my best but need like the best description possible and want to do this the right way.

Good pictures. Okay, from what I can see, the double DIN kit you have does not have a "rolled" lower edge as the OEM plastic does. That said, you might not need to cut / notch anything. It may be a simple case of the power lead 'squeezing into the HVAC control area. Again, not having the part in hand trying to do the install, makes things more a challenge. I have to assume a few of our customers have installed with after market plastic. Hoping one of them will see this and respond. If you were a little closer, I'd offer to help with the install.

@prone2xl If I understand right, you should be fine. Instead of cutting the Scosche part, you'll likely just want to use a file to make a slot in the topside HVAC plastic. That's how I did mine. I have a Metra unit and I didn't have to modify it to work with my flyzeye unit. Hope this is helpful.

@OneFastGeek Thanks for your quick reply! if i'm understanding you right, i'm attaching a pic with an annotated red marking as to what I think you're saying to cut a slot in. sorry i'm a wannabee mod guru and have all the tools and such but just lack the hands on skills and get a tad nervous with cutting anything factory

@prone2xl Yep, that's exactly what I did. You're good to go. Do you have a file? That would make quick work for the notch you need.

@OneFastGeek Yeah i have some files and rasps. How big a gap did u create and did u mock It up first with tape to see how much you’d need ? Also are u able to remove the hvac controls if u needed to like to change a light bulb or something ? What’s cool is that i just bought a black version of the hvac controls so I do have my OEM silver spare one too. I hope the splicing/quick connects are good. Did u have any problems with them or just snap ? Thanks again !

@prone2xl I think the gap I made was about 1CM wide. I didn't mock it up prior, I felt confident it'd be fine. I can remove the HVAC controls, but not without removing the flyzeye base from the overhead mount. To the flyzeye design guys credit, the stickers they use are awesome. I've had to pull my HVAC and head unit face plate half a dozen times, over several years, and it still adheres just fine. The base plate will hang with the wires when you remove it, but you can set it aside, out of the way.

Generally, we no longer include the decals - they COST us more than our profit margins on V1 / V2W units. Prices are way down to clear things out. We do still have some decals available... For now.

V1 units do NOT require any cutting, drilling, or other modifications to the OEM panels.
