FM....HD Radio reception

I have a 2023 Tacoma TRD Sport and from British Columbia Canada.
When my radio is on FM it goes in and out of HD. I do not think it is the frequency or location but perhaps something to do with the wiring or a short. Has anyone else experienced this?

 

I believe HD2 and HD3 stations run at a lower power than the main HD1 channel. There is one HD2 station that always drops out when I drive by a certain grocery store. Must be a radio wave dead zone.

See if your HD station drop out frequently at a certain location. Also try other stations (even of you do not like the programming) to see if your poor reception happens to every HD station.

Lastly, maybe check the antenna going into the back of your head unit.

 

my HD channels only work reliably in the immediate metro. Overall (regular channels included) the reception of this radio is very weak. I daily drive my company truck, so the comparison of where one does and doesn't work,, it's day and night.

 

The HD reception is sketchy in my truck especially in rural areas. The symbol on the display comes and goes, but is better in or near major cities. In more rural areas, it rarely appears.
