I would assume anything in that price range is probably made overseas.

@Capt. Obvious 's point is simple- go to the SCS site right now and order some 16" or 17" Ray 10s, 17" Stealth 6, or 17" F5s. You can't.

I know two local guys who have been trying to get 17" Gunmetal Ray 10s or 17" Black F5s since January. Not everyone has the time to wait for a "launch" that's going to sell out in 15 minutes. Both of them decided to buy something else after this latest "Inventory Refresh" was still unsuccessful for them.

I think it's great that Vin and Co. have been able to do so well with their wheels. That said, it sure does appear that they're generating "hype" by purposefully limiting stock so that demand outweighs supply. Just like Supreme clothing, those stupid Yeezy shoes, and whatever other trends the "Hype Beasts" are following this week.

I love my SCS wheels, but if I ever decide to get new wheels there's a roughly zero percent chance I am going to sit at my computer refreshing the website over and over waiting for inventory to come back in stock and try to place my order before they're gone.

**edit** Apparently Freeman Toyota has started their own waiting list. That's interesting.

    Dylon,

If you have any specific questions about fitment or our wheels, feel free to post or PM me. Most of the members are right, you really can't go wrong with either wheel model. If you have some patience, I think you would be satisfied with the F5 on your Tacoma. If you need something easily attainable or is constantly worried about us "pretending to build hype" then SCS might not be for you.

I started this business b/c of my passion for wheels and design. I don't go around chasing every dollar to be made. It's not who I am and not what's going to make me a better person. Nevertheless, I put everything into this business and try to operate it the best way I know how and treat our customers like how I would want to be treated. Whenever new stock arrives, they do sell out fast so it can be hit or miss. I don't think the demand is due to fake hype like it's "fake new". It's really in the details of our wheel models. It's the subtle angles, clean lines, and overall thoughtfulness of the design that makes them appealing. We will never compromise quality over quantity so if that means waiting an extra month or two then that's what it's going to be. Some folks might never understand this, but let them try to run any business and have sustainable growth year in and year out.

Five stars look great with large tires I think. I went with SCS F5's when I had my tacoma and the 265's. Looked great!

I am an FN fan all the way, so I am definitely biased towards the FN Five Star wheels

Also, am I the only one that has ever looked at the SCS F5 and immediately thought of the 4 cyilinder Tacoma steelies?

FN Five Stars have that deep dish, '80s beach truck vibe going for them. I went with 16s on 265/75. Nothing but compliments and questions from folks at service stations, parking lots, etc. My turnaround was about 2 weeks because I wanted bronze and they were out of stock when I ordered. Dustin kept me up to date on the progress and I had them sooner than I expected.

I think we can all agree that both wheels look great at least. Also as long as they aren't from Rich Varrstoen and his professional ripoff company VTX then you cannot go wrong.

The f5 appears to be patterned after a Toyota stock wheel seen on land cruisers in japan.

If I recall correctly, FN wheels are manufactured in Taiwan, or at least they were.

FWIW I finally decided to order wheels and lo and behold, 17" gunmetal F5s were in stock and ready to go on SCS' website. Booya.

This statement makes no sense. Its obvious the demand is there for his wheels, so why not ramp up inventory by x %? Every time I want to grab some Stealth 6's, they're on back order. So I went with RRW wheels, fully stocked and great service.

Disclaimer: I've run your wheels before, and the styling and service was top notch. However...

You are so understocked, that its turning people off, and this is the problem. Its not like these are forged, made in america wheels, or a BBS wheel. They are nicely designed overseas wheels. Suggest to carry more inventory as you WILL sell more wheels, as it's clear you have a good product. Is that an additional 5%, 10% inventory? Not sure, but it is clear people are fed up with the constant 'out of stock' status on your popular wheels. You have competitors selling very, very similar wheels to yours which are probably made by the same 16 year old Taiwanese kid.
