I know in this thread people have said you can put the stock 3rd gen OR tires on these wheels... but has anyone done that and experienced any issues? I'd like to pull the trigger on these wheels, but was thinking about waiting until I need new tires to have them installed. But I'd like to turn around and sell the stock OR wheels soon after purchasing... but likely won' tneed new tires until next year.

Edit: this is in reference to the width differences between the FX wheels and OR stock.

Anyone know of any spray paint that matches the dark gunmetal color? Was thinking of spraying the silver trd center caps to match.

I'm looking to buy two wheels, condition and color doesn't matter, as long as they can hold a tire/pressure. These will be used as spares, and I can recoat/paint to what I want.

I'd be interested in knowing the same thing on the Matte Gunmetal.

Left a message with Dustin today. Hoping I get a call back within the week because I hate bugging people but what are you gonna do.

Anyway, I have an 05 desert sand mica TURD O/R (leveled on 5100s with an extra leaf). I have spent hours looking and have not seen these wheels on a DSM! I’ve seen a handful of quicksand ones but nothing in the Old man tan. Hard enough finding good pics of an early 2nd gen in a sea of 3rd genners.

Requesting pics if there is anyone out there with this setup. Preferably I want to go gunmetal. I think black hides all the beauty of these wheels. I love bronze but I doubt it will look good on a metallic desert sand?

EDIT: I have to mention, Dustin returned my call the same day I called him (and posted this lol). Thank you for the service! I promptly ordered a set of matte gunmetal and I am STOKED for them to show up. Also, I believe I will be the only DSM 2nd gen running these wheels...excited to post pics!

Thank you for confrirming. I think it would be a great set up because its a light weight rim combined with the 255 or a skinny tire you get a light weight set up and the tires will still stick out past the fenders just enough.

Not to mention skinny tires actually perform better in almost all cases and terrain types (especially when deflated for offroading). This has been proven by serious off-road and overland enthusiasts. Wide tires are good if you have ALOT of weight to distribute, but pretty much unnecessary with the Tacoma’s. People buy wide tires because of the look and they like paying more for gas

Yeh I'm surprised you don't see people running skinny tires more often.

Seems like to usual sizes people go to are 265's and 285's with Tacomas.

True. Problem is the weight is largely increased with a wider tire resulting in loss of power. The tire selection for 255’s is limited with 16” wheels as well.

I like the wheel setup and stance on this! Was this before you added a lift kit? And did you rub at all?
