Hey everyone, cool site you have here. I usually go by "slosurfer" on all the other toy forums but apparently someone already snagged that username here. DOH! So TuRDVan is my alter ego, named after my 89 4wd Toyota Van.

Found out about this site when BrandonH invited me out to meet up with the group at the Pismo Dunes. I was only able to go mob with them for a few hours last night and had a blast.

I do have a Tacoma, but don't wheel it much as it's my wife's DD and our family car. It does see some dirt from time to time. My 4runner is my main wheeler and the van sees wheeling time as well.

Also, I want to invite you all out to the pismojamboree that I help plan, be sure to check it out. www.pismojamboree.com The host is ultimateyota, but it is definately open to all and is a blast!

Here are a couple pics of my wife's taco doing a little wheeling:

Awesome man.. Looks pretty new to be a trail rig. That Runner probably is a blast to drive.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yeah the 4runner is pretty fun and is a different beast now that it is double locked, just wish that it had the 4.GO in it instead of the 3.SLO :D

I haven't done much to my wife's tacoma. I removed the front mudflaps, I made a cheap bed mat for the back, and I made a slick fireextinguisher mount for the back. Other than that, it's just stayed stock. If I ever get into some money though, my wife will be the only soccer mom delivering the kids in a LT'd Tacoma. Haha:cool:

Right now it's actually pretty dented up from being hit by an older fullsize GMC while we were up at Shaver Lake over christmas. Destroyed the driverside bedside, a little dent in the bottom rear of the cab, and destroyed the rear bumper. Slowly working on fixing it back up and trying to make sure I come out ahead compared to what I got from the insurance company. So far I picked up a brand new complete bedside that was taken off a truck that got a LT rear end and fiberglass. Got it for $350 but it will need to be painted since it is from a white taco, and I just picked up a bumper for $20.:D

Dude... Shaver lake?!? My family and I vacation there every year around August. We stay in a rental off of Bretz Mill Road and then rest and relax for almost two weeks. That picture shows some heavy snow.
As a matter of fact, I've got pictures on my profile of Shaver.

Yeah Shaver's a cool place. My fam rented a place for christmas this year (don't remember the name of the road) We got there and it snowed for 4days straight, got cabin fever and had to bust out of the driveway. Went for a drive and that's when we got nailed by the GMC that slid through a turn.

By the way, out of the whole family there, my bro's first gen tundra, my parents LC200, and our taco. Mine was the only one that could make it all the way up the rest of the driveway (it was really steep and icy) when we loaded up to leave.:D

Welcome, nice pics. Any pics of that 4x van?
I found this thread from a search for shuteye peak, any info you would care to share about it? Just saw a show on tv but it didn't go into detail but it looks like a great place to go.

You're from Los Osos, been there too and it is great. Saw some sea otters and even a bobcat on the trail. Very cool place.

Shuteye peak was a great trail. I would rate it medium in parts, but most is fairly easy. The trail gets up really high and has great views and cool rock formations.

If the fire lookout is manned, I highly suggest going up and talking to them. More than likely they are bored and more than willing to talk to you, tell you about their job, the place, point out landmarks, etc... We talked to the guy there for over an hour, it was cool!
Here's my photobucket album from that trip. Looks like the shuteye trail pics are all at the beginning of the album.

Looks like a doable trail for a stock 4x4. Thanks for the pics.
Nice van, I wanted my mom to get one of those when I was a kid.

Yeah, it's a fun trail, pretty easy, but totally worth it and beautiful. The switchbacks weren't too bad, they were a little hairy for the blue first gen due to it being a stick. LOL

Yes, a stock hi clearance 4x4 should do fine. The taco is stock but does have the elocker, so I took some harder lines in a few places.

I can't wait to get the van fixed up how I want it, but it is still so much fun just like it is.:D
