What's going on everyone? I need some good opinions and options for my manuel 20 trd off road.. I'm ready to pull the trigger on getting bigger tires and I would also like a little bit more ground clearance. I don't need a lot I don't off road much, but I do use it to surf fish on the beach in sugar sand. Just want to make it stand out a little more then then the other 20 3rd gen tacoma living in my town.
    All advice will be appreciated

Ps.. I'm also clueless about how this mod will effect my warranty

I think you have to decide what’s more important the warranty or making the truck “ your own” and as you said stand out. from my experience once you start to modify you may end up doing several iterations. That can get expensive- I have ran three different lifts to get what I wanted. In hindsight I should have just spent the coin initially vs taking the least expensive route as it cost more in the long run. I would suggest add coil overs and at minimum an AAL to the rear. If you do nothing more you can gain 2.5” of lift and run 265s. If you want a wider tire and no rubbing you will need to do a cab mount chop and weld patch to the cab mounts . This will allow 285’s. Other mods to consider especially as you surf fish. Upgraded bull bar with rod holders ?

You can go to a 265/75/16 with no issues. If you go with a more aggressive tire like a KO2, Ridge Grappler, or Duratrac, it'll definitely give you a better than stock look. Add some new wheels (bronze if you're feeling frisky) with maybe a 0 offset and that'll give you a nice stance and custom look. I'd pull off the tube steps and do some Predator steps.

If you use the point closest to the ground now as your reference point (your axle lines) the only way to get more clearance is taller tires. So 2" larger dia will give 1" more clearance, etc.

Doesn't take long to get into being restricted by body parts, wheel choice, etc.

Knowing how to use what you have appropriately in the sand is the key. Airing down, ability to air back up, keeping momentum, etc etc. are all important stuff, usually more than just bigger tires.

Yeah the driving on the beach hasn't been a problem. But that is the only off roading that I really do. I'm really just want it for a custom look that want compensate anything but also be able to properly fit a larger tire

You can't really go to a much larger tire without some cutting. You CAN do the 255s which a lot of guys love. There's a huge thread on it. "This skinny on skinny tires" or something like that. However, if you're doing a lot on sand, I'm not sure how narrower tires do in those conditions. Those 255s are a true 33.
