I'm actually not sure if Indiana has a lemon law lol, either way I wouldn't turn it in for this, I'm gonna try to dig it out tonight, going to buy a precision pliars set tonight at harbor freight along with some other things, I'll keep the forum posted :)

Get a pair of hemostats. Then you will be able to clamp onto the foam, then work it loose with a slim screwdriver as you patiently roll it onto the hemostats and pull it out. Work slow so as to not break the vent slats.

I've had quite a few smaller pieces fly through and hit me in the face over the years. Like half inch by half inch pieces.

image.jpg Got it out. Thanks to a 99¢ pair of needle nose pliars from Harbor Freight and about 5 minutes.

Where in the air duct system would a foam piece that size come from?

It is glued in place like a liner. Get a flashlight and look into your vents...

I had mine block in winter - since it was winter I let them do it under warranty - it's technically a 6 hour job - you're lucky your foam was reachable.

I had the exact same thing in my 2011, same vent and everything. I don't know it it'll make it easier or more difficult to get out, but mine was sticky side against the vent, but I just got a pair of needle nose pliers and a couple chop sticks. I used the sticks to get it close enough to grab with the pliers, and then used the sticks to get the sticky to release from the vent. Was WAY easier than I thought it would be.
