Looking for DIY options to rebuild my front seats. 2004 Double Cab with Grey interior. My drivers seat foam is shot and the covers are not far behind.

Would like to find foam and use coverking seat covers to rebuild.

What options are out there for replacing the foam on our front seats?

    Genuine Toyota
Suggested factory part numbers are below. All discontinued.
    • 71512-04030. Seat Base Left
    • 71511-04170. Seat Base Right.
    • 71552-04030. Seat Back.

    Gen 4Runner Foam

I found a thread suggesting Gen 4 4Runner foam can be used but no verification.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/new-seat-foam-bottom-and-back.696738/
    • 7151135050 (Bottom)
    • 7155135050 (Back)

    New Foam Vendors

All of the seat foam vendors i have reached out to so far do not have a solution.

    Typical solutions
    • I know it is common to find 4Runner and other seats to swap out.
      • Many threads on this topic.
    • Looked for a low mile Taco's with good grey seats.
      • Few out there but not close by. (So.Cal)
      • Many w unknown miles. Don't want someone else's back problems.
    • I know a good upholstery shop can rebuild them.

    Looking for DIY options.
Anything close or tried with good results?

    Thank you.

Ultimately I’m going to buy new 4runner limited/sport foam and bring it to a highly reputable interior upholstery shop in town. Luckily for me I already have the rare Tacoma double cab limited driver’s seat that matches my interior perfectly. So I only need foam for my passenger seat.

Have them swap the foam and customize the fabric so that I have new limited/sport seats that match my interior.

For less than what it would cost for high quality aftermarket seats and far better than my quasi-janky DIY T4R seat swap with mismatched fabric.

    Plus 1 on apholstery shop

you basically pick the amount of $$ you want to spend
Seat bottoms(foam)seat backs(foam)/type of material you want
Can go hog wild (all new foam/leather)or budget (no foam/you pick cloth)

Excellent Quality apholstery shops typically do convertible tops too

This racing seat cost me $450
Vinyl bolsters/swede leather seat bottom/seat back/new foam for bolsters.
She is a garage queen but seat redone over 5yrs ago.
